heres pre crisis Dr Fate telling superman and other earth 1 heroes that he is going to send them into earth 2 (they are on earth 1 at the time) help get the villans of earth 1 out of earth 2.

heres a scan that shows you have to be worthy to wear the helmet of Doctor fate you can't just put it on or there would be consequences.
