Tournament Odds Thread

I did this for a past tourney, so maybe it'll be fun again.

For those who might not know, the 5th (known) KMC comic tournament is underway. 8 teams of 2 participants will choose 3 herald-level characters and duke it out.

Everyone from the forum is invited to watch the matches as well as vote in the poll for whomever you think is the victor (which will act as a tie-breaker if the judges for the match are split). I will ask, however, that once they're open you refrain from too many comments unless they pertain directly to the match (and leave the debating to the participants).

I'd also stress that matches are both team power and debating skill. Just one or the other won't get you there, so whoever might have the slightly most powerful team won't necessarily be assured of the win.

Matches will begin in roughly a week and a half (give or take).

Currently, the field looks like this with 2 more drafts to go:

The current favorite has to be the returning champion from the last tourney (and his partner) Blair and newjak, based solely on experience (which has been shown to be important in the past). But AW is also a tourney vet, and regular forums vets like leo and DC are pocked around as well. And plenty of people have made names for themselves taking down "big guns" in tourneys before (Blair, for example, was hardly a favorite going into the last tourney).

So...

If 8/1 is the average, we'll start Blair/newjak at about 6/1. Leo/Kahn, AW/Accel, and batdude/DC at 8/1. DL/Superherovandal and GF/Psyquis at 10/1. AJ/Sam Z at 12/1 (no pick). And Lilnutta/Slither at 20/1 since they might not even be in it (we're not sure).

This could all change though, and obviously will.

So, what odds would all of you have? And who would you pick at various odds, a favorite for less of a payoff or an underdog with a bigger payoff?

im not in the tournament but i have a quick question does this mean people like me whos not in the tournament could type to a team we like keep it up, way to go or stuff like that?

Nah, but you can watch the battles and vote for who you think "won" it. Stuff like "Woo...go kick ass!" should be kept to the tourney discussion thread and kept out of the battles themselves.

I mean I came here and got very interested in Evangel's tourny and kept up with every match. Then I competed in one and did pretty well I mean I lost 1st round but the person who beat me went to the finals. And BW of course won the last Tourny and I Judged heavily for that one so even not competing I was still a big part of the tourny going on.

eh, all egotistical notions aside, I have a plan for everyone so far (based only on their first character and on mine).....but I KNOW who I would want to debate with least. Id say other than the fact that I want to win, and ignoring Digis rating on myself Id think that the numbers are pretty accurate.

Even odds on former champs Jinzin/Scoobess coming out of nowhere to steal the win. 👆

Meh , I think I did pretty well .

I slapped around a guy who tried to say he could coat his characters in adamantium and forcefields.

Then I had to deal with the bridesmaid......

I got robbed in Evangel's herald level amaglam tourney. longpig had snuck in Strange into his amaglam while he wasn't to well known. 😠

Now that the rules are so much clearer, It'll be easier to keep our characters base powers similar.

I think representatives from Team Magik will make a great impact in this tournament. Possibly pulling off an upset to win the whole damn thing. That is my prediction. 😛 💃

That's ok. It's not as bad as half of the participants not knowing the power cap of one of the other amalgam tourneys. (Individually can't exceed Spidey level or altogether can't exceed Spidey level) 😆

Mine and Illadelph's match is leegendary (at least if length is considered) and me and Scoobs had pretty good match too. Although I lost the both 🙁. Not by much though.

Hmm this should be interesting, Batdude123 he only gave you 10/1 odds because DC was saving your ranking otherwise I am not so sure it would have even been 10/1 😈
