So if I use Smallvile's Backfire call... you would just send me Backfire's card and I could use it?.... even though I would outnumber Itzak?

No, you must have Backfire In your Hand when using it.

I attribute it to the fact that when Vinny made the cards I usually kept to the SW vs forum, and therefore was unknown here at the OTF.
