Is It Possible To Just Be You?

I believe I know where she is coming from. Your personality is your personality. It seems that when a person has a great sense of humor and enjoys it, they are not taken too seriously when they decide to talk about something of intelligence. Like the two can't go together or something........How bizarre...........

It's called versatility.... 😎

True and we both know it's always smarter for a man to agree with a woman.😛

Safer. 😉

Just be yourself. If people are responding negatively, that's a reflection of them, not (necessarily) of you (I say "necessarily" because I don't know you). If you are that gifted combination of beauty and wit (and I'd like to know why everyone thinks you are hot--are they judging by your sigs or did you ever post a member pic--just curious 😛 ), than those with less of either will find you intimidating and seek ways to cut you down to size.

Stand tall, stand strong, be kind...and those who are afraid will eventually come around, finding in themselves their own strengths by following your lead.

Is it? Many people seem shock and in disbelief when something other than a joke leaves my lips. Like I'm incapable of intelligence. Is there a balance or are we doomed to be one or the other?

Hmm, not really, since what is ''you'' is constructed by society. You are in a box, which society has built, of how you should be. Within that box, you have a little space to do ''your own thing'', but on a macro scope of things, what is ''you'' is what your society says ''you'' is to be.

You should probably just speak for yourself there, just a thought.

Weird, not in the world I live in.

Don't we all speak for ourselves AC? I know I do.

We do, Dwarf. Apparantly Milla doesn't think so, or does, and just tried to speak for everyone for no reason.

I could never ever speak in your name AC, because I cannot get my head so far up my ass.

Yeah, but you see, you did speak in my name, didn't you?

Let's look:

"Hmm, not really, since what is 'you' is constructed by society. You are in a box, which society has built, of how you should be. Within that box, you have a little space to do 'your own thing', but on a macro scope of things, what is 'you' is what your society says 'you' is to be."

That statement logically applies to anyone living in a society. This includes me. So until you remove YOUR head from your ironically pretentious ass, don't speak in such a way. I appreciate your attempt at being a worldly person, but please. Speak for yourself.

If you believe society has conditioned you to the point of robbing your identity, I truly feel for you (no, really), but it doesn't apply to all of us.

If I only knew who the real me is!?!

Is me the one I think I am or is it the one that the others think I am?
but if I really knew who me was, would it be really an unbiased knowledge of me or can the others know the real me better than me!?!?.... 😕 :

I rather be different me with different people than driving the real me crazy trying to fit it to many different crazy people: (TOLERANCE MY FRIEND 😎 )

If you try to live your life with the 'just you'. you will soon have solitude and boredom as your most sarcastic and devoted companions. 😆

Well I plan on living my life with just me.

Solitude is my friend.

is it comprehensible.....

YEAH! I was right for once 💃

Yeah but, we live in a world where originality runs thin and although is praised is also feared.

What's up with all these generalized statements and pointless phrases in this thread?

You have to remenber that ANY society is composed of "individuals" and every individual may speak for himself/herself or for others that cannot speak for themselves. Lil is speaking for herself in her statement. Remenber...even if you chose to be excluded from a society...you're still apart of them until you decide to join another society. A society can robbed your identity ONLY if you allow that to happen. Pretty much 1984 but without Big Brother. 😉

I don't know it just went from one thing to another including insults.

Of course you can just be "yourself".

You left half the comment off. Whether this is because you tend to always be biased toward Lil in any altercation between the two of us, or whether it's because you actually forgot, I don't know.

She said more than that, though. She said "I could never ever speak in your name AC, because I cannot get my head so far up my ass.". It was a pathetic jab because, as usual, she has nothing else to say.

Yes, so basically we're saying the same thing in slightly changed overtones aren't we? Lil said that "you" (and rest assured, she said it generally, read her post and tell me she didn't) can't be yourself because society dictates it.

We both know this is pretentious bullshit, and that she was wrong to make such a general statement. Now we can move on.

I believe it is possible to be yourself. people just need to think of themselves for one moment and not just being envious of other people and that is when peer pressure comes in. pick out what what you want to wear and don't listen to what other people are saying because they are just words and talk is cheap. doing what you want to do and even through you might get criticized for it, just do it and don't worry about it even if it makes you happy. people stress all the time but they stress over the little things the most. talk when ever you want to talk or not, every person has a right to say what they want to say even if it is right or wrong because it is better to let out the truth than to hide it. better to let out your emotions than to bottle it up inside. just don't worry all people are different it wouldn't make a life worth living if it wasn't and how boring it would be if everyone is the same.

Of course it's possible to be just you. And with that comes a price as always. Everything has a price....
