Chapter One: Time Has No Hold
Brown eyes gazed out a foggy window, as a car drove through the cold afternoon. It was the dead of winter, the trees standing in bare form. The sun was beginning to set, turning the sky a great many colors. The car turned onto a long winding road, revealing some of the largest houses known to man.
Jase watched as he past many houses, each bigger than the last. He could of drawn a map of the street, he knew it so well. Jase sat in silence as the car turned into a long driveway. His dad parked the car, and put his hand on Jase’s shoulder.
“Jase, have fun tonight.” His dad said.
“Thanks” Jase replied, opening the door.
“And don’t forget, keep checking in with us.” His dad added.
Jase just turned and smiled at his dad, before he got out of the car. He slowly walked up the long path to the enormous front door. Jase ran his hand through his long shaggy brown hair, as he reached the door. His hand quivered as he reached out to ring the doorbell. He couldn’t believe he was doing it, he couldn’t believe he was seeing them again.

~Three Days Ago~
Jase lay in the cold jade green grass with his best friend, looking up at the stars. The moonlit park was filled with laughter as the two friends joked with each other. They smiled, as they told each other all the secrets of their lives.
“Amanda, I’m so glad you’re in my life.” Jase said.
“I’m happy we’re friends too.” Amanda replied.
“I love how we’re completely honest about each other, like you’re the only person who knows I’m bi.” Jase said.
“And I’m honored to know. We’ll be friends forever.” Amanda said.
“Mmhmm, we’ll be old wrinkly partners in crime.” Jase said, sticking out his tongue.
Before Amanda could say anything back, Jase’s phone rang. He pulled it out of his pocket, and eyed the caller id. His mouth fell open as he saw who it was. His mind cluttered with thoughts as a name ran through his head, Brendan.
“I don’t believe this…” Jase said.
“What? Who’s calling you?” Amanda asked.
“Brendan.” Jase answered.
“Who?” Amanda asked.
“My old best friend… We haven’t talked since middle school. That was like two years ago.” Jase said.
“Well… Are you gonna pick up?” Amanda asked.
“I dunno.
