Wildstorm Discussion Thread

It was supposed to be a bimonthly... it's now been a third of a year. They better not keep this sort of scheduling... 3 issues a year... 🙁

On a happier note, I just read the first 3 issues of Welcome to Tranquility and it's pretty good. It's sort of like metahuman Florida - where old heroes and villains go to live out their Golden years. Good concept, clever writing, nice art.

Hrm. 3 issues a year would be horrible.

I'm currently trying to "complete" my Authority collection though, which should be fun. All I'm missing is Stormwatch stuff, Jenny Sparks: Secret History..., and the Planetary cross-over.

But my other love (Spidey) has too many comics. It's possible to own every Authority comic though (and all their showings in other stuff), so it'll be fun to say I have everything. Might take a little while though....I can't just just buy probably $80 worth of comics all at once.

Wildcats - Grant Morrison and Jim Lee.
Authority - Grant Morrison and Gene Ha.
Midnighter - Garth Ennis and Chris Spouse
Wetworks - Mike Carrey Whilce Portacio
Deathblow - Brian Azzarello andCarlos D'Anda
Gen 13 - Gail Simone and Talent Caldwell
Stormwatch - Christos Gage and Douge Mahnke

I was the biggest WC fan damn, glad they come back in style>i love you J//
Gen13 is another one cant wait for, for some reason back then for a while they were like superboy back when he needed glasses for xray, could fly n only used tackticle telekenisis. Like meh...but got better juz as conner did.

I edited the title of this to make it the official WS thread, since we didn't have one otherwise, but this was the most WS-ish thread out there.

Anyone else reading Number of the Beast? It's not a team book, but the (presumably last) in a recent series of 6-8 issue events that are leading up to a gigantic apocalypse for WS Earth. Armageddon and that one with the 3 chicks (I forget the name) were the events that led to this.

In any case, it promises to make a lasting change on pretty much every major book in WS (Stormwatch, Authority, Wildcats, Gen13, etc.)

New Authority run on Aug 8th

Looks alright!!!

Sweet. Maybe this one will get more than 1 issue out.

So which series are good at the moment ?

Looks like they're tired of waiting for Lee.

Well, as I mentioned in the post above, Number of the Beast is changing all the major titles. They'll be jumping off soon. Recent runs on the various Stormwatch titles have been entertaining if you're familiar with the characters. But all will be in a new chapter, so to speak, once NotB ends.

I purposely avoided the Authority spoilers, but I'm excited to read the new post-apocalyptic arc. I just hope Doctor doesn't go MIA. Midnighter's Armageddon issue alluded to him disappearing after so much suffering on the planet, so I'm a bit worried.

Anybody finish reading Number of the Beast besides me? I actually liked it. A very different story, with a nice wrap-up at the end after some confusion for the first few issues.

Pimpsauce, now I might get my very own super-thread that will last the ages.

Any idea if there is any plan to continue the Wildcat and Authority that started before? I collected all of those handful of issues before they just stopped coming.

The one with Ha? that was cancelled.

If you're referring to Morrison's 2-issue run on Authority, then yeah, it was cancelled a while ago.

They have a post-armageddon arc coming up soon, as do all the major teams. World's End, I think it's called.

That sucks, I would have stayed on board with those creative teams without question, I collected the issues of Wildcats and Authority, and now they seem worthless. 🙁

I also stayed on Deathblow for an arc or two under Azarello but it felt way too decompressed, and I couldn't get into the character much.

I also collected first couple arcs of Midnighter, but I couldn't seem to find a direction the series was heading.

Though admittedly, Majestic is the character I'm best interested in, I read most if not all of his last series, which was rather short. And I thought his appearance in that Jim Lee Wildcats issue with the new armor looked badass.

how does New Dynamix factor into the wildstorm uni? i noticed they sort of brought back Union and im interested if anyone has actually been reading this book and if it has a future / effects any other books.

real cool black superhero 😱

bios

I...only recognize 2 people on that pic. New Dynamix, you said? Sounds destined for a short run followed by a cancellation, if you ask me.

Though WS has been doing great in recent years with various franchises they've acquired the rights to, as well as minis for various characters and teams that sell well. The Morrison Authority run notwithstanding, they've been pumping out more and more stuff for a few years now. It's bound to reach a halt at some point, but for the moment there's a lot of teams and characters around. Not sure whether I'll follow Wildcats of Stormwatch (in addition to Authority) but things look promising.

its 1-5 issues i think. i was just curious if anyone else gave it a chance. i honestly never thought id see Union ever again and suddenly there he is in this comic. i was under the impression people liked him. i might be wrong. but once i saw him i had hopes that his role in WS would expand a little. maybe see a little Apollo VS union Action.

sadly i dont think ill ever see this comic ever again after it wraps itself up. 😕

Yeah, Union never really caught on. Had a brief appearance in the doomed "Monarchy" story arc (they were a new team started by Jackson King). I'm not even sure what his powers are, currently, since he had a sort of rebirth after willingly killing himself because he was possessed (or something along those lines).

humm i figured new dynamix wouldnt show up again but on the last issue they revealed Tao with void on a chain. and then they mention Tao in 'Lynch: one last thing chapter 1' that was im wildcats #1.

they built black halo up for something "And he'll be the catalyst for an underground socialist SPB uprising" and in the little visions of this future it was shown in a apocalytic setting resembling whats currently going on in the WildStorm uni.

im just hoping all this would show in other places lol. or its gonna be one of those untold stories or something menitoned off hand 😂
