Here is the point I want to get at and the reason why I know DS>Thanos. Alright so check this out by a simple comparison of feats.
Thanos can defeat SS in 5-6 punches, very impressive and is certainly a testament to his power. Now Thanos took on WM Thor w/pg whom just before wrecked a group of top tiers. Its impressive that he stood up agaisnt Thor and endured a physical beating from him, however he knew he would be lose eventually thus he imprisioned Thor with his tech.
