Only THE biggest Comic convention you could ever go to...and it was announced by the production crew I think.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Joker has been cast, and it's Heath Ledger.

Get out. Just go. No more stirring shit for you. 😛

Ledger? Honestly? I dunno...

Please tell me this is a joke?

Because if it is true... I am most certainly waiting for the sequel to come out on video before I see it.

*proceeds to slit wrists* WHY, NOLAN!? WHY!?

"Damn you! I'm going to get you....sillybuns."

Honestly this was the best picture I could find to manip. I'm not looking forward to this.

It's impossible to manip any good pic of him because he always looks so friendly and non-villainous lol.

no! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't want Heath to play the joker..thats stupid ARG!

I agree with all the Heath haters, I dont want to see Brokeback Batman. I hope its all a joke, I just hope.

Oh god...I just realized something. Remember a while back they were saying Gyllenhaal was in the running for Two-Face?

If we have Gyll and Ledger...playing Two-Face and Joker, after Brokeback Mountain.......even if they do a good job (which is highly unlikely) the media will KILL this and it won't have a shot of making a lot of money.

Ledger's a decent actor, don't typecast him for the Brokeback role.

But the real question is how the hell can they make him the Joker...

Ya know what this is........ its Brokebat Mountain all over again....... oh yes, fear it now!

It's hilarious how people discredit this guy for The Joker just because he played a gay character. I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but a number of Batman Begins cast members have as well, notably Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Linus Roach. I suppose playing bi/homosexual characters had any effect on their performances in Batman Begins as well? Oh wait, it didn't. Huh.

Now, obviously Nolan saw something in this guy. This isn't a part that he, or WB for that matter, would cast lightly. Something about Ledger clicked. What? We won't know until 2008. We'll have to give Nolan the benefit of the doubt and trust him. Look at the benefits:

-He's young, so we'll get a fresh Joker (instead of an old-piece-of-whale-shit Joker that was Jack Nicholson).
-He's is an Oscar nominee, so clearly the man can act. He's also versatile.
-He has the basic look of The Joker. There are manips circulating all over the net that prove this.

People need to quit bitching just because their candidates didn't get picked. Tough luck. Nolan's a professional filmmaker. You're not. I'm pretty sure he knows who would make a better Joker in HIS vision of Batman than you do.

By the way, this has been confirmed. Latino Review confirmed it, IGN confirmed it, and BOF just recently confirmed it. Ledger is The Joker.

Um... I have nothing against him for playing a gay character... I saw Brokeback Mountain in theaters for crying out loud! And I think he is a very decent actor... sometimes, but its not his fault that a bad role gets thrown at him every now and then.

Its just that when I close my eyes and think of the Joker in a movie, Heath Ledger's face does not pop up... but then again no one's face does, a damn comic or cartoon character's face does!

I just don't think he is the right person... he doesn't have the Joker's facial characteristics, well not as much as the other candidates that I've seen anyway have... and I just think he's too nice a guy, even when he acts... I don't think I've ever seen him do crazy/creepy... but then again that doesn't mean he can't do it... he is an actor after all.

And as for the Brokebat joke... come on! Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger in a Batman movie together! Its a funny coincidence ya have to admit!

From what I here, the guy has a temper problem. I believe he once assaulted paparazzi.

Gyllenhaal was never confirmed to be in the movie.

Here's a manip of what he could look like.

I mean he's a nice guy in pretty much every movie he's in... I don't think I've ever seen him play a villain... doesn't mean he can't do it though... just that I haven't seen it.

An besides... this damn thing is getting too damn mainstream for crying out loud!

For me Batman Begins had strong actors in it, yet actors that were needed to make it good... like Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson... good, established actors that could hold strong roles and make a strong film. Ammunition where it was needed! Putting someone who is commercially strong in a role like the Joker (which needs to have a career-wise strong actor) is ridiculous!

Personally when I heard Bale was going to be Batman I couldn't see it, and yes I have come to except it but I still do not see Christian Bale in my mind's eye when I think of Bruce Wayne... not like I see Ian McKellen when I think of Magneto... but I will still watch Batman Begins and except Bale as Bruce Wayne for the movie's sake, same as I do when I watch Batman Returns and see Keaton play him.

But I guess I will have to wait for a trailer to except Ledger as the Joker, but until I see proof of his acting being valid as the Joker I will not consider excepting it... sorry, that's just how I feel on the subject!

And as for Jake Gyllenhall... I never said he had the part, just that the fact that they were considering him was funny... and if he gets the part then there is no way in hell I'm seeing this movie at all in theaters! It will just be some mainstream, trying to make lots of money, piece of tinseltown showoff flash!

"Oooh... they liked the last Batman movie... let's put people who are really popular now in all the open roles... doesn't matter if they are right for them... people will come see it because they liked the first, plus it has people who are hot now in it... we'll make millions!"

Idiots.... this is all Goyer's fault!

*picks up shovel*

That bastard is two steps away from getting a shovel to the face!!! I let him ruin Blade... I will not let it happen to this one!!!!

Wow... I ranted hard... sorry bout that... got a little over the top there... 😮

Goyer is the least of my concerns with this movie. All he did was help come up with the general story and (I believe) write an 80 page script treatment.

Jonathan Nolan is writing the full script for this one, which guarantees that this film will be better written than its predecessor.
