DC has to give him flaws just to make him more “human” and that the people can relate to his troubles.
You can't judge the character solely on the basis that he has several impressive abilities rather than merely one or that his story has been told numerous times. If anything the fact that he can still draw 100+ million fans to theatres in a week proves it is not overdone.Perhaps you should read a few of his more recent comic book story arcs, I can assure you it's not has basic and dull as you make it sem.

Ah but its not just the physical weakness of Kryptonite that affects him, on one side you have Superman, basically all powerful except for Kryptonite, but on the other side you have Clark Kent....his 'emotional' weakness side, he cant share himself with others, has to keep secrets and so on. If you look at Batman/Bruce Wayne, Bruce is actually a pretty average guy, he could give up his suit and live normally. Clark cant do that, he is forever bound by his powers and always lives two lives. This makes him more than just a 2 dimensional superhero.

There are SO many comic characters that do the exact same thing and have the same problems but are not UBER powerful and have every super powerful. I’ve never been a big DC fan and have not like most of their main stream characters because their powers are so out there and not based on anything, at least Marvel keep the concept better IMO. But this is either here not there, and you like Sups and that is fine and I don’t and this is not a topic for this thread. 🙂

But with Superman, its not 'all powerful' on a deeper sense of his character, what good is having all of these powers if he cant live life as himself? Its a fair trade off, sacrafice his social/emotional life and balance it with powers. How many other characters have that balance?
Yeah but Superman is like...the uber hero, he's pretty much invincible, the only weakness that can really apply to him is what I said before about his Clark Kent side. Thats what makes him stand out as an interesting character, he is basically a god, yet he is restricted by his surrounding social environment.
hmm...so take away the socal environment etc. then youll have a SSJ Goku 4 character in superman eh? hmm youre right on that...I always like that mild mannered mannerism of his then the all cool pose hhe porteays easily after...one thing that still bugs me though..his underwear is stll outside of hs pants..or spandex..whatever you call it....
