His 'underwear' is the same colour as his leggings, which doesn't make it draw attention. If Superman was the same, and just had a yellow & red belt of some kind on top - it could work.
I've always thought that Superman should wear a costume that was woven out of kryptonian technology, like some fabric created by the crystals in the Fortress of Solitude or something. Him wearing like a pair of cotton underwear over tights....how does that withstand going in and out of the atmosphere? lol
the reason supermans suit doesnt get damaged is because his body sends off a aura to match his skin. his skin is unpenetrable and like a rock and sends an aura to protect his suit.
Read it in the Superman encyclopedia. i guess thats good cuz if it was more realistic, superman would be naked... alot...
When John Byrne did his reboot, and had Martha Kent sewing this costume for him, designing it all ๐ , his bio-aura kept it from being damaged except by extreme harm. But that cape got ripped and vaporized every issue. I think Byrne got some weird pleasure out of drawing a ragged-looking cape every issue, and showing us Clark had a closet full of replacement capes. When Byrne left, DC said enough and had a long plot arc that ended with him getting a near-indestructable cape to use, made of alien material.
