According to The Next #1, Superman is the most powerful being in this part of the space/time continuum. 🙄

You read that too?? I guess Magneto is more powerful than the guy you just named, since what Superman did with the static electricity, he could do with a blink..........God, that mutie hate has to burn in ya bellies right now?!!!

Or more disturbing, is the fact that, buying into G.Morrisons supercockstroking, a room full of 4th graders that just discovered the joys of rubbing their feet on the ground, could also temporarily seal rifts in space and time??.........DC and the juices they serve at meetings.

Who remembers the days, when the resident GL was the Swiss Army Knife of the Earth?? Since, his ring can do anything...

Guess what GL fans?!! Whatever your favorite character can do, Superman can probably do better!! And with less effort to boot!!

But in all seriousness. Why didn't he get Orion, or Darkseid, or somebody with actual experience in dealing with the space time continum?? Do those characters even serve a purpose anymore? Or than to compare, poorly probably to Superman?? And Batman?

And for Surfer haters, if I might add to Avalonofthewind's earlier post.

In the end -in an arena battle- I'd still vote for Surfer over Superman. Just like I see upgraded Norrin taking 9/10 over Lobo. Norrin's just too strong, too fast, too durable, and packing too much versatility (like the kind he displayed against Ravenous in Anni: SS#4, not to mention the vintage beating he put on Lunatik).

I'm going to go with the well polished Surfer of the cosmos.

That's news to me...I thought that role was for Ion...

I think this fight can go either way. SS isn't really any faster than Lobo, there aren't any real weaknesses to exploit, and it's hard to BFR characters who travel the universe for fun.

Surfer could just drop a black hole on Lobo and be done with it.

That's what it says in Kyle's book. I don't get the feeling theres a lot of unity in DC editorial.

How do you just "drop a black hole" in a battle? That would leave Surfer way open to be attacked.

I know SS can create black holes... but to use them in battle against another effectively?

Lobo would knock him senseless while he tried to pull that off.

Surfer could just send him to the phantom zone or in the marvel U, limbo.

It's not hard to for some one who can fly to avoid someone who's grounded. He doesn't have to be right next to Lobo to pull this off.

Looks like Uni went nuts. baka

Cockstroke writing does that to me....And before anybody claims i wouldn't have a problem if Thor or Surfer did so, i'd say you are right. I wouldn't be adverse to it if either of them were shown to be able to do so.
And no, its not due to a Marvel bias.
Thor has Mjnollir, which is a plot device in itself.
Surfer has the PC, which is another plot device in itself.
I can accept tears in reality being fixed by another plot device. Like a GL ring or a Motherbox.

Superman rubbed his hands together.....Rubbed his hands together, i must repeat. And temporarily sealed a hole in space and time.
If Magneto was shown doing so, people would call bloody murder, and stupid Marvel powering up its damn mutants. No matter that Marvel has for years subscribed to the Unfied Field theory.

HV sealing tears in reality, and now simply rubbing his hands together at the dinner table, in anticipation of Ma's cooking can destroy the world.

Yep, a real Swiss Army knife of a character ya got there DC.

And how can someone who wields the most powerful weapon in the universe, NOT be considered one of the most powerful?

Because the ring prevents them for properly rubbing their hands together?

Apparently.

Surfer is one of the fastest, and most manueverable characters in the MU. He doesn't need to stand still to use his Power Cosmic. If this fight was Superman (instead of Surfer) vs Hulk (instead of Lobo) I'm sure you wouldn't be arguing that Hulk would beat the snot out of Supes if Clark opted for a distance attack. It's just plan ridiculous, then, to say that Lobo would physically dominate Surfer if Norrin pulls out some PC attacks from a distance.
