FWIW, I used to listen to Hawthorne Heights and I considered some of their lyrics Emo.

They arent emo. That's all there is to it.

emo core, that made me laugh.

Rites of Spring. Maybe Fugazi, but to me, they were more of just the influence and not actually an emo band.
