In fairness though, i don't think people should underestimate supes' willpower simply because he doesnt have a ring... Hal recently offered him a ring (Up, up and Away part 3), so his willpower is at the very least comparable... Thats not to say he'd whupp any gl he met though either...

Strongest character ever? No. Strongest character on DC earth? Yes, more than likely. It's flawed logic to deny Superman some of his top strength feats. Sometimes Superman fans can go a little overboard sometimes, but it's not like what the Wolverine fans used to say.

And a lot of that stuff actually goes on when people hear the name. Basically he should just turn everybody into a cheeseburger and call it a day.

But honestly, should he? How often does he fight people that are more powerful than him? Or Thor, the Hulk, Surfer, Hal, Sentry? Isn't it all relative?
