They watered him down in the Post Zero Hour Legion retcon. Mon-El has been schooling him ever since.

Legion is pretty much the same except Mon-El took the place of Superboy as their inspiration. Andromeda took Supergirl's place.

The retcon of Validus was annoying though. The coolest thing about him and part of what made him sodangerous was his connection to Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl. They're fools for screwing that up.

Add this to the mix, Pre-Crisis Validius now gets his parents to aid him! >_> that or Validius gets 1 week prep against RKT, he was very smart wasn't he?

Validus was mindless.

The Fatal Five would take him but there aren't many they couldn't take.
