Well.. First on topic OOC I guess.
Personally, I dont like the way some of you post Mendez as being a cruel son of a *****. He's a Marine instructor, not a psycopath. He may be very strict, stern, and distant to his men (you) but that's the job of an officer. Keep the respect of your men without getting to close to them, they have to see you as a soldier and commander more than a person. (Sergeants are in a similar positon, but still connect with the men. Ex: Sit down and play some cards every once in a while.) He's there to teach you, not beat the living shit out of everyone.
Anyway that's my opinion.

Apparently it was after curfew when we did that boxing thing, so it's natural for Mendez to be doing so.

if you ask me all trainers are psychopaths ermm
Most Marine forms of discipline are harsh... Long hours of extra tedious or labour intensive work... Not just a beating. Beating someone in most cases, wont accomplish much. If you beat kids every time they did something wrong, then they're going to grow up to be emotionally and/or psycologically unstable. There are other forms of discipline... And beating everyone is not Mendez' stlye.

Like dogs.. If you show sign of weakness, they start question your leadership, and eventually they will try to take the lead..
This is not much different from that, if I got the subject correct..

That's a correct ideal... But when in any of the books did Mendez beat a kid? Let alone until his back was covered in welts... or when did he punch a wounded kid in the face and break his nose, or break a kids jaw...

Whoever comes in last wasn't starved, they just got crackers and water for supper instead of a turkey dinner or whatever they were having at the time.
And I thought the crackers were for everyone.

Crackers were a snack or something in the middle of the day. If you were the worst trainee of the day you got crackers and water for supper...
Don't recall a single punishment of sorts for misbehaving or breaking conduct being dished out though.
