Halo: Spartan III

Raevynn watched as Axel left the room. Her eye's were ever so slightly narrowed as they traced his movements. That boy was not the same Axel. He was far too distant. There was no way he was still apart of their team.

"Spartan one one six!" A masculine female voice called, shattering her thoughts. Raevynn's eyes snapped wide open and she turned to face a husky woman dressed in all white who's thin hair was tied back in a tight knot. Clamped tightly in her pudgy ball of a fist was a clipboard. "Please, Come with me." She grunted.

A wave of panic washed over her. Raevynn did not want to be separated from the others, something told her she might never see them again. Her eyes scanned over each and every one of them before she trudged over to the woman, trying to look as fearless as possible.

The woman glared down at Raevynn's over confident face. She let out a grunt of approval before turning and leading Raevynn through a set of swinging doors. Another clipboard wielding terror brushed past them, undoubtedly on his way to retrieve the next Spartan on the list.

Raevynn fought back the swarm of questions that welled in her mind. She remembered what Mendez had told them about questions. He forgot to mention how hard it would be to keep those questions to themselves.

The woman was now leading her down a long stretch of hall way. On either side of them were identical rooms. As Raevynn peered inside one of them, she knew exactly what was going on. This was some sort of physical. Every room looked like a room out of a hospital.

"Here we are..." The woman sighed, prodding Raevynn into one of the rooms. Her voice was suddenly alot kinder.

As Raevynn stepped into the room, she knew this was no routine checkup. overhead loomed ominous looking machines, drills, hooks and other devices that she had never seen before.

"Sit." The woman ordered, pointing to a strange looking chair in the center of the room. There were various uninviting restraints and clamps attached to the thing, and Raevynn hesitated for a moment. "Sit... " The woman repeated, this time louder.

Raevynn sat, and the woman approached her with several different needles. She pricked each and everyone into Raevynn's arm before she ordered Raevynn to stand yet again, and change into a strange sheet of clothing. By the time she had finished with this task, her finger tips were starting to tingle.

"Sit down and keep your legs straight." The woman said in the kindest voice she could muster. She had since gravitated to a set of glowing controls in the corner of the room. She let her fingers hover over one of the symbols, and in return the chair started to bend backwards until Raevynn was laying down, staring at those frightening tools overhead.

Three new faces entered the room, and by now Raevynn was having trouble keeping her mind from floating off into space. Once she thought she had gotten this under contol, one of the men that had entered the room placed a mask over her mouth and nose.

"See you in a few hours, squad leader." A voice hummed from somewhere in the room. The last thing she remembered was a cold strap of metal tightening itself around her hairless head, holding it perfectly still. Seconds later, a blinding white light engulfed her vision, and she was out.

David seized his malicious pleasure the moment Abbra approached him, and he just froze. "Uh.." was all he could spell out when he looked at her. At a distance, laughing at the girl was a very easy thing to do, however once she approached him everything turned much heavier.

He assembled every little bit of courage he had and successfully spelled the word "H-h-ell-o..", he was about to panic as the girl was sitting just next to him. Looking trough his entire life, a maximum of two girls might have ever approached him. One of those two were his mother. And now look, two at one day. Speechless, David looked at the girl. "D-David" he said and looked away from her direction, placing his hand on his chest to show he was talking about himself.

He slid down, sitting next to her, raising his hand like he was in class, asking permission to talk. He opened his mouth and looked at her, but before he gathered the strength to say a third word in this not all to exciting conversation, a man entered the room with a cold glare on his face. "Four 'o Four!" He snapped, and at this time, David felt like he was going to collapse. However, he quickly adapted to the situation. He had just greeted AND introduced himself to a pretty girl. Not even a loaded gun at his head, an army of Covenant troops, or even death would frighten him anymore today, and he marched straight up to the man, with back up straight and nose up-high.

He wandered trough the passages of rooms, and stopped in front of one of the doors. He and the man both had walked death silent from scratch to end, before the cold voice came, "Enter and sit, Four 'o Four!" and so David did. Nothing could wreck this day, he thought to himself as he was strapped to the chair tight. The man ripped holes in the overall where he would make room for upcoming needles and shots. "HEY!" David snapped, but turned death silent again when he got that cold look from the man.

Without gentle movement, the man got David into a laid position on the chair and David closed his eyes. Due his training he could now hear three people enter the room. He quickly analyzed the situation, making out that there was two males and one female, due to weight in stepps and movement. Keeping his eyes closed, he said "Give me your best".

At first, a mask was placed over his head and he could already figure out that this was to make him go to sleep. The second thing he felt, was the metal bar being placed over his head. By now, he had it figured out that they were about to do something rather nasty. By looking at the tools, the structure of the bar and the other pieces of equipment, they had drilling to do. David passed away from the gas that the mask provided, and the last thing he could make out, was the female voice saying "Let's get this over with"

Jacob saw Rae go and then David. He was wondering who would be next then it came "Spartan o' eighty-six follow." The man tried to sound gruff around all the Spartans but everyone could see it wasn't sincere.

Jacob was following the man down the hallway about two feet back and two feet to the left. The man was definitely knew here. Probably just assigned for this task. He was nervous Jacob could tell.

That when the man in the white coat lowered his clipboard. Jacob probably guessed the man didn't know Jacob had amazing eyes or was just so nervous he forgot. Jacob's eyes begin to scroll down the page. For most people it would have been to small to read but for Jacob the letters were as big as the moons surrounding Reach.

He begin to read all the surgeries that were going to take place. The enhancements they were going to receive. The risks involved. Which candiates were best refined and the danger zones of the operation. Jacob even though he didn't understand exactly how they would do some of these things had the basic outline of the operation in his head.

They stopped by a door and the man told Jacob to enter in front of him. He told Jacob to take a seat which Jacob did. Looking over his chart the first thing he did was look at any special abilites that need to be tested. Seeing Jacob's requirements he lowered a board that had very fine print. Jacob read off of the lowest line without much problems even about 20 feet back. Then the Doctor real;ized on his own accord the mistake he had made going down the hall.

He walked over to the table saying " I guess I don't really have to explain anything to you huh." Jacob nodded as he began to put the needles in his arm they stung and were a little painful but nothing to bad. "Please just don't tell anyone about that" Has he put the gas mask on Jacob. Just then a bunch of people came into the room and started looking over Jacob. Even though things were getting blurry he could tell the man was even more nervous then before.

Jacob said a prayer to himself asking if he and his fellow Spartans should make it out of this alright.

Then it went dark.

The room smelled of antiseptic and cleaning alcohol.

It set off alarms in his head the moment he stepped in. He was required to undress and don a surgical paper gown and lie belly down on a padded operating table.
Everything in this place was unearthly, machinelike. Everything was too sterilized. Lawrence didn't like it at all, but he wanted to be a Spartan. And so here he was, waiting to be crafted into one.

Soldier and machine mixed into one Spartan. Honed and oiled by the UNSC to the best of his fighting ability. This was the pinnacle. That decided who would move on. The only thing he was afraid of was being left behind. He would have rather shot himself than sit in a room, away from the action. Runt he may be, but a ruthless, effective one he was.

A doctor in a white lab coat and a mask approached with a needle. "Please lie still, son. We're going to inject a topical anesthetic into your pelvic region so you won't spasm during surgery. Better to stay still the first time and not have cerebrospinal fluid leaking out."

Lawrence did as asked. "You're going to feel a sting in the small of your back." the surgeon said.

It felt like being stabbed with a pen. Still, he had endured worse and survived, and bravely took it. Everything from navel down numbed.

"Aren't you going to knock me out?" he asked apprehensively.

As if on cue, the surgeon wordlessly held an oxygen mask over his face, and everything faded to white, then black.

Parker sat waiting, feeling a little nervous. He wondered how everyone else was doing and if he would be seeing them when the surgery was done.

Suddenly, one of the doctors came out and motioned him forward "Spartan One-One-Five, you're up last. Are you ready, son?"

Parker nodded and stood up, walking down the new hallway behind the doctor towards an empty room and a surgical table. The doctor smiled and motioned Parker to lay down on it. This doctor seemed friendly compared to some of the others.

Once he layed down, the doctor injected him with the topical anesthetic. "We will be leaving your mechanical arm on during the surgery to it can get a feel to your new settings. Otherwise it would take days for it to adapt to it."

The doctor grabbed one of the oxygen masks and smiled. Parker raised his thumb. The doctor did the same and turned on the gas.

The next thing Parker remembered was the smiling face of the doctor, then it all went black.

"Hi David, I'm Abbra." She muttered weakly, and although she didn't have the energy to muster a smile, she looked at him through caring, friendly eyes. He opened his mouth, but nothing came. A man interrupted him to her disappointment, and took him away. More adults took her comrades away, into a place she herself knew, with grim foreboding; she would go to as well.

"One twenty four." A man said she counted; she was the one of the last ten to be called. He peered up at her through chocolate and honey colored eyes. He was younger than most, with a pale and creamy complexion. He was handsome and kind as he led her into the hallway. "This way." He said and directed her into a room by placing his hand on her lower back as the other was occupied by a clip board.

"You can call me Abbra if you like." She said meekly, he seemed to understand she was worried. Not only because she did not know what was going on, but because of the environment she was in. It was bleak, and it felt like a cage. Metal machines crouched on different surfaces; each one seemed just as frightening as the last. She didn't touch anything, she knew better than to. Although more than anything she wanted to ask what they were. Never had her eyes seen such sharp and foreign machinery.

"Abbra." He said his voice calm and trustworthy. "I'm just going to give you a few needles. Could you sit down for me?" His hands tapped the seat of the chair. But it wasn't one Abbra would like to sit in; it had strong restraints and clamps. Why would it need them? "Don't worry about those. Just some shots, I promise." The man said reading her mind.

She listened and took her seat, looking at the various needles. She hated them more than anything. The first one slid into her, leaving a small pain. "I'll be quick. Just don't squirm." He said, pulling out the first syringe. She didn’t speak, not even as he removed the last needle from her skin. “Now could you slip this on?” She nodded and changed into a sheet.

“Now listen, I’m going to need you to lie down, and I’ll make sure you get to sleep soundly. Don’t worry about anything. We’ll look after you just fine.” He reassured her and armed himself with a mask. Abbra wondered why he was being so kind. Why he treated her like porcelain. Why he treated her like she was four. Abbra didn’t mind kindness, but it was something to spark suspicions. Slowly she drifted off. More people entered the room, but her eyelids were so heavy she couldn’t see them clearly. She didn’t try to stay awake. She knew the man with the white coat and clipboard and the brown eyes wouldn’t try to harm her. Abbra was lost somewhere between that thought and the metal bar sliding itself across her head.

OOC: dam all long posts lol i dont think mine is going to be that long

Spike was walking around and he had noticed that some of his friends were gone but he didn't know where to. Spike then heard someone say,

"Spartan double o seven please follow me."

Spike followed the order but then got a little hasty when he was walking threw the halls and he could see threw some of the windows and he saw people lieing down and they were bald but he could still tell his friends apart. Spikes room was two rooms down from Rae's and Abbras he saw two women laying on a table or some sort of weird chair. He then noticed that they were knocked out and then he also realized that the two women were Rae and Abbra. Spike looked at the doctor he was following.

"ummm what are you going to do to me???"

Spike asked.

"nothing just a little check up think of it as a physical."

the doctor said.

"well im not buying it if i've already seen two of my friends knocked out in rooms in this hall and you seem a little to nice and calm when you said that and i could sence that you were very nervous once we got to the room so yea i think i'm just going to miss this little "physical" you say this time ok bye."

Spike said before he took off running as fast as he could. Spike had always hated needles and he knew that there was going to be more than one needle used in what ever they were going to do to him. As Spike was running down the hall he glanced in the rooms and saw David, Jacob, and Parker now he knew something was wrong and he ran even faster. After about five minutes of running he slowed down to a jog and a arm came flying out of no where at him he ducked under it and started sprinting off again he was now being chased by three trainers and he knew that wasn't good. After another five or so minutes turns and turns later he ran around a corner and.

*WHACK*

Was all you heard, there was officer mendez standing around that corner and he had just stroken Spike right square in the chest very very hardly with a stun baton Spike instently passed out and was taken to a room and stuck with needles and they didn't need to use the gas mask because Spike was already knocked out but them not knowing he would wake up before the others because he passed out he wasn't gased out. So a hour or two later Spike woke up in the little hospital like room and checked himself he was ok but his body and head ached and he didn't know why. SPike then went out into the hallway and went to the room Rae was in and shook her and all and tried to get her up and nothing happened he tried the same to abbra and nothing happened again then he went to davids room and tried to wake him and he moved but was he wakeing up or did he just move.

"David get up i think they drugged us or something."

Spike said waiting to see if David was wakeing up or not.

Axel slipped into the room, he wasn't wearing any MJOLNIR, only his off duty uniform. His chest was lined with medals. Several of the standard rewards for performance, heroism, and crucial actions during circumstances. He also housed medals from several battles, The Atlas Moons, Archeron Prime, Delta Sindari, Horsehead Nebulae, and Void VI. He glanced at the shiny objects, far from appreciative of a reward for killing.

He eyed spike for several moments before speaking, "I doubt they'll wake up." He said. "I've been watching you guys since the procedure started..." He trailed off. "I've been through this with hundreds of other Spartans before. Not all of you will make it. You need to get back to sleep Spartan... Every minute you're not sleeping is another chance shaved off of your survival.

[I'm going to make this short. They gas him. He's out. =|]

Green was sitting alone in his room bare chested and laying idly against the head of his bunk when the door opened, a stout woman strode in, clad in a typical white doctors coat and sporting a clipboard. "Let me guess, Spartan one one five?" Green kept his eyes fixed on his feet, only acknowledging her with a small nod. "Good, follow me please." He stood, slipping his shirt back over his head and following her towards the medical side of the complex.

As they approached the far end of the medical ward, the woman set down her clipboard on a table beside a door he had seemed to have never noticed before. She placed her hand on a small metal plate and a few clicks echoed through the room. The door opened.

All he could see besides the blinding whiteness of the room, the only colour here was the broken down leathery chair, equipped with chain restraints and an arm hanging off of the side. His green eyes flickered to the table that stood erected on the arm. There lay an assortment of needles and scalpels. His heart jumped to his throat. What the hell is going on? He thought as the woman motioned to the chair. "Sit please, this will only take a moment."

James nodded reluctantly, striding over to the chair where he'd sit down. The woman exited the room and in her place, returned a man. He sit down beside him, bringing a sort of face-mask over Green's head, a noxious gas poured into his nose and mouth as he groaned, his eyes rolled back into his head. "Goodnight.." The man smiled, the faint sound of a drill starting as he drift deeper into the dark abyss of his own mind.

[Woah Woah Woah. No way. You are NOT Spartan One-One-Five. I am. I was before you even joined here. 😬 ]

OOC: lol ooo no theres about to be a fight lol

Spike turned around and saw the guy from earlier that had been in the MJOLNIR armor.

"Who are you i've seen you twice already today and why won't they wake up and i'm not going back to sleep i don't trust anyone but my friends around here anymore."

Spike said as he got into a deffensive stance knowing he would be beaten but he was still going to protect himself if the guy tried to come after him or something. Spike jumped up and then dove threw the guys legs and ran off to the room he was in before and sat in the weird looking chair again his legs where starting to hurt and so was his head but he was going to try his hardest to stay awake and protect himself.

[ Edit]

OOC: No, no fights... It'd be retarded to hurt you while your body was still taking in the enhancements.

Axel sighed, turning around without any real purpose as he eyed Spike's retreating back. What the hell? Was this kid some kind of retard? Axel couldn't comprehend any logical reasoning behind his actions. He shook his head. He'd expected a bit more from these Spartans. He was only here a day and a half but so far what he'd seen was far less than impressive. He sighed, and made his way toward Spike's room.

He walked in, eyed Spike, but did not stop nor slow as he came through the door, but he didn't move unusually fast either. He simply walked forward, and once he was within a proper distance his body blured to human vision and with near impossible agility he'd manuvered behind his target before he'd had time to react, at the same time his hand connected into the side of Spike's neck and he instantly fell unconcious with the impact. Axel caught him before he hit the ground, and set him back on his table. Seconds later some personell came in, and he told them to give him some type of drug to make sure he didn't wake up.

Axel returned to the end of the hallway to keep his silent guard over the growing Spartans.

Raevynn's eyes slowly and painfully peeled open, revealing a medical room washed in a dim blue light. She struggled to sit up, but found her body too weak to respond.

"Good morning, squad leader." An unfamiliar voice sounded. Raevynn tried to turn her eyes in the direction of the noise, but instead she was rewarded with a sharp pain. "Don't strain your eye's. They won't work properly for at least another three days. The lighting in this room is blue for a reason. Any brighter and you would certainly go blind." A young woman stepped into her blurry field of vision. "I'm going to take you to another room. You'll be staying there until your body has adjusted enough to start your physical thearapy. Here, Im going to put some glasses over your eyes."

Unable to find the strength to speak, Raevynn let out a tiny moan. She wanted to know where the rest of her squad was, and she wanted to know why her body was responding.

"I know they aren't the most fashionable piece of equipment, but they'll shield your eyes. You'll have to wear these for two to three days." The woman rambled on as she proceeded to carefully putting the thick black glasses over the Spartan's raw eyes.

Now Raevynn could see nothing. She nearly panicked when she felt the woman's arm slip underneath her neck and knees.

"Don't worry, number one one six. Im just putting you in a wheel chair so I can take your room. I think you'll be glad to see some of your companions waiting for you." She assured as she heaved the light weight Spartan out of the bed and into the chair.

There was pain all over Raevynn's body as she did this. Once her body met the chair, she was sure the pain was over. That was until the woman wheeled her out of the dark room and into the normal light. Raevynn's eye's tingled with pain and started to burn like she had been staring into a sun for hours. The pain along with the bright light caused her head to pound with pain. Her ears starting to ring, and she passed out yet again.

Nearly an hour later, her eyes peeled open again, this time, staring into a different room. Raevynn waited a few minutes, before trying to move again. Ignoring the pain that shot through her joints, she managed to sit up. Looking around the room she was glad to see three silhouettes that were beds. That meant that there were three other Spartans in this room.

Raevynn wanted to see them so bad, but her body as well as her eyes would not allow it. For now, all she could do was sit and watch over them.

Parker's eyes opened slowly and painfully, like waking up one morning with crust keeping your eyes tight shut. His face was on the side of a pillow, and he was wearing dark glasses.

He could see three other beds, one of them had a figure sitting up. He groaned and coughed hard, which made it sounded like a cough from a kid with ashma.

Once his coughing fit was finished, he managed to shakily sit himself up, which caused him to take several deep breaths before he could relax.

He turned his head in the direction of the other beds. One of the Spartans was still laying down, not making a sound, the other was taking a look around the room.

Once the figure looked over in his direction, he waved slightly, which showed he was ok. The Spartan beside him, he couldn't tell. Most likely that one had died from the surgery but was kept here until they would move the body.

Axel stepped forward once Spartan 116 had decided to find the resolve to get over her ordeal. "Now you know what it's like for me." He said. "Being technicaly blind. Just... multiply what you feel by ten, and then live it every day of your life... The trick is to relax your eyes and let them take control." He saluted. "Good job Squad Leader. You pulled through to lead your soldiers to a later death."

"I kept a watch over you and your men while you were out. It's been some time now. I was wondering whether or not you'd survived." He glanced at Parker, but said nothing. "Now that you're all waking up, I've no need to be here. Next time I see you, you or your men will most likely be on the field. Or during some training exercise. Unless of course, you come looking for me. I doubt you will." He looked her over. "Your soldiers dissapoint me Chief." He said. "They lack the control it takes to be a Spartan. They'll learn after some get killed. They always do."

Jacob woke up in a bed so sore. He was even more sor ethen when he had broken his ribs on that one mission. Jacob couldn't see anything it was pitch black. His eyes were burning and something was cvering them. Jacob reached to take them when someone said "I wouldn't so that."

Jacob had heard the voice in the room it was the nervous guy from before.
He said " That since Jacob's eyes were so good at taking in light naturally that any discerable contact with any light may hurt his eyes beyond repair. So for the time being he had to walk around with special lenses that blocked out all UV light at least for a couple days untl Jacob's eyes had adjusted"

Then he wheeled Jacob into a room. Jacob had no idea what was going on. He thought he could hear voices all around him. He wasn't sure though who they were. It was the first time Jacob had been without the use of his eyes and he was actually a little scaed not being able to see.

He prayed to the lord to grant him his sight back as soon as possible.
