“Hatch?” Elie really hadn’t thought about that. Yes, eggs did hatch but somehow she had managed to overlook that fact. Truthfully, she hadn’t even remembered the egg until the little creature at her feet had spoken. The fox…. Audio had said it was a… a digi-something. It hadn’t come out of an egg, had it? Birds were suppose to come from eggs, fish and frogs too, but not foxes. Foxes were born live, or they were back at home. In this world, anything could be possible, like those rock creatures.
Elie caught herself staring at her companion. God he was ho- No. no hitting on him. They were just lost together, that was all. He was American, or at least she thought so by the look of his clothes. If they got out of this world alive, they would be living on opposite sides of the planet, never to meet again. Looking away quickly, she began to root through her bag nervously. The hand she had touched him with felt warm, but she blocked that out. ‘Don’t think about Audio. Off limits. Home, remember home. Concentrate on finding a way back. No Audio. He’s probably got a girl, he’s probably got a fan club…’ But her thoughts keep wandering back to him. ‘Why am suddenly…’ She stopped.
“My cell. Where is it?!?!? It was here just a while ago. No, no, no, no, no! This cannot be happening! Where is it??????” Frantically emptying her bag, Elie’s stuff scattered everywhere. Pens, pencils, a sketch book, something that looked like an iPod, and junk. For now, her attention was diverted away from Audio, the digimon, and the egg which slowly began to rock back and forth. Nor did she notice the black and gold device which fell right at Kittmon’s feet.
