Exar Kun versus Ulic Quel-Droma (Saber Duel)

Takes place where they fought before. Both are at their prime.

I would like to think that Kun in his prime is when he created his new saber and style, so it's likely that he would defeat Ulic, although it would be a very tough battle.

Where does it say that Kun made his own style? Not denying it, just wanted to see where.

Well, if he creates a double-sided lightsaber, then obviously he would need a new style in order to weild it without cutting himself up.

Wouldn't he presumably have incorporated his original style into his saber staff?

Well it'd still be a unique style then. Assuming you mean like say Exar Kun practiced Djem So, and then blended that into his double bladed lightsaber. Since Djem So was never meant for a double blade, and you can't do all the same moves with a double as a single, it'd be unique.

Fair enough.

I was under the impression that Kun used a form of Makashi incorporated with his own style.

Yeah, hammer strikes are Makashi, alright.

The one-handed use of the blade that Kun displays several times (e.g. against Vodo) clearly is. It's possibly a blend of Makashi, Djem So and Juyo elements.

Still this fighting style combined with a unique weapon might give Kun the edge over Ulic given that they stalemated when Kun used one blade and his "normal" style. This aside from the fact that Kun is also shown to use dual wielding and one-handed wielding of weapons which indicates some greater knowledge of fighting styles compared to Ulic who is always shown to use the same style (two-handed hammer strikes - most likely Djem So).

I'm not even sure if the standard forms were around at that time, but if anything the style that he did use seems to be closest to Schien or Juyo.

So it was a mix of Makashin and Djem So

It's possible Exar used Juyo...that's a form compatible with DBLs...possibly a combo of Forms V and VII
