Who would win and why?

Donkey would try to throw a barrel, MC would snipe it out of his hand, then MC would headshot him.... kind of a sadly easy contest

Well, it has been agreed that Samus Aran would beat MC. Donkey Kong is superior to Samus in Super Smash Bros. So I think that Donkey Kong will win.

...actually, Samus WAAAY outclasses Donkey Kong in Smash and in the gaming world in general, and Smash is not a reliable source for their true powers as it is.

How strong is DK? Could he overpower a brute, or their leader Tartarus?

DK vs. Tartarus would probably be a fairer fight than with MC x-x

That probably would be a more fair fight. The only way I see DK beating MC is if he got one of his DK Barrels. When he breaks out of those he is invinciable for a long time. Bullets and explosions wouldn't do anything.
