The New Home Theatre

Sorry, guys. I was just really excited to share my new toys with everyone here. My upgrading is done except for the HD-DVD player, and I couldn't be happier! Got my new HDTV yesterday and had it, and my home theatre professionally calibrated by my good friend Jason (thanks, J, if you ever read this) and it's working flawlessly.

Living Room (Back): Polk Audio RM6751 Rears.

Living Room (Front): Polk Audio RM6751 Fronts, RM6752 Center & 42" Sony Grand WEGA 3LCD HDTV.

(Front Again) Cabinet: Yamaha HTR-5930BL 5.1/DTS, Sony DVPNS75H w/ HDMI & Upconversion, Sony PS2 Slimline w/ Component cables for Progressive Scan/HD gaming.

Cabinet: 42" Sony Grand WEGA 3LCD HDTV showing "Resident Evil" Superbit DVD via HDMI at 720p.

Living Room: My officially licensed DTS plaque, because it made me proud, lol.

Living Room: Once again, my Skyview tin. I'm a sucker for vintage signs.

nice one. looking good

The mark of the true "Movie Pimp". 👆

Can't wait to upgrade to HD.

Looks awesome.

What you need is those glow-in-the-dark stars you stick on the ceiling, making that vintage poster appropriate.

wow cool many congratulations lucky u enjoy love the DTS plaque

Woah, nice looking set-up, congrats. 👆

Sweet setup dude, how much was that TV?

Now all you need is a 360 and it's complete.

It ended up being $1,340 with a 10% off coupon. That's about $200 less than Ultimate Electronics after taxes. I had a 360 hooked up to it, and we played Prey, Tomb Raider Legend, Saint's Row demo, and the Halo 3 teaser trailer and it was ****ing insane. Alison said "Is that what HD-DVD would look like?" when we watched the Halo 3 trailer, and Jason was like "Oh, yeah!" and she said we could get the player after all. 😱

You gotta understand, she said no more toys for another few months, after I got the TV, lol.

wow the pic and sound must be mind blowing . have you seen any movies on it ?? whats it like ??

So far, "Batman" (1989) has looked the best, personally. "Spider-man 2" Superbit DVD is about the same, just incredible. I gave the Divimax Edition of "Halloween 4" a whirl late yesterday, and it looked pretty damn good, too. They're all upconverted through my DVD player, of course, so they'll look better than normal, but the HD-DVD player would set it all off.

Damn, got a good deal.

Yeah, High Def gaming really does look great, I was skeptical about it at first, then I tried it on my dads 50 inch plasma and it blew me away.

Anyways dude, everything looks great, congrats on your new theater, hope you enjoy it.

How about the ending for V for Vendetta.

I think I just creamed my pants.

I'm getting "V For Vendetta" on HD-DVD. It's almost inevitable, especially since it's a Weinstein/Genius Products release. That movie would pop like no otther, IMO. They used a digital intermediate as a master source for the 35mm print, and for the IMAX edition. It will look flawless, guaranteed.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys. I'm really proud of it, and maybe one day I'll add some more goodies to share.

Excellent purchases Cinema. What electronic store did you get these bargains from? (or was it all online purchases?)

My little home entertainment center is compose of construction blocks with a small crate supporting my 32" Okio TV. But I do have a nice lawn chair with a cupholder.
