Yes, you don't compromise any ability by becoming a moderator, you can still break the rules (And likely get punished harsher and possibly just outright banned, though I haven't yet seen that happen to a mod), and you still have the choice. The only difference is generally your mood goes sour because you have to deal with a lot of crap that normally you wouldn't have too. People get exhausted quicker when they're carrying a load, right? No different here, though i'm sure you understand it well enough.
