ohhhhh i beg to differ. my sister started cuttng herself when she found out barney the dinosaur wasnt real, she was three.

this reminds me of the kid who shot his parents because they wouldnt let him 'hang' with his friends. over-dramatic, attention craving idiots. i have to say that the blame is on the parents for these kinds of outragous attitudes. its a hissy fit gone terribly wrong. in order for a kid to kill themselves over something that the want, they have to have gotten what they want in the past in EVERY circumstance, being overly spoiled. this turns into kids DEMANDING things because they know they'll get it no matter what. ive seen it in every Walmart ive ever wlked in to. then when they dont get what they demand they think the world has turned upside down and against them, and they dont understand it, they probably think that their parents hate them too. so they kill themselves to take away the pain. the funny thing is how did she ever get the idea to hang herself?

Nevertheless, fact is, if a child decides to kill his/her parents over an issue involving "hanging" with his buddies then that child is mentally unstable.

If your sister cut herself over barney, then it is not just the tv show, maybe bad parenting?

My point is, its not just the tv shows, there are a lot of factors in the childs social life that could influence the childs behaviour.

And as you have pointed out yourself, parenting is a major factor in the childs life.

So no, children do not just kill themselves over the tv show, there are other factors.

exactly, and im also not saying that its just being spoiled either, its actually more likely to be a great unending combination of allot of factors, like child abuse and peer abuse at school. i remember my public elementary and how awful it was. i had glasses, braces and a learning disability and the kids thought of it as something to poke fun at. it never really affected me because i was raised in a family where sarcasm was encouraged. but the day i walk into the classroom with a shotgun in my hands everyone's mouth shut tight, especially after i blew it off their faces. lol

but anyways, spoiled kids should die and rot in hell anyways so no big whup laugh out loud.

Yeah, those years at school were quite bad for many people I knew, they survived and have turned out to be the most interesting people I know.

But I think that the majority of the blame should go to the parents for allowing these spoilt children to get out of control.

Does someone have a link to this story? As previously stated, hanging oneself over a tv show is asinine, and blaming it on a show is side stepping the real problem. Did this girl have mental/emotional problems? Was she living with her real parents? Was she suffering from a large amount of stress? Questions like that shouldn't be ignored, and they all play factors in something as extreme as suicide.
