spectre was an angel in dc/vertigo who joined ranks with lucifer in his rebellion. after falling form grace he tried to redeem himself infront of the presence who used him as an instrument of the presence's WRATH. the angel himself is made up of PSYCHO matter and can be powered up by god to almost unforseeable might. he does need a human HOST though to work UNDER god and after dying from being posessed by parallex, hal gordon became its host. even though spectre is powerful enough to destroy beings like the anti monitor he is unable to challenge beings like myxptlk or the posessor of the spear of destiny. hes also no match for even higher beings like micheal and lucifer.
He is above the 5d imps, recently draining mr. mxypxtlk of most of his powers. He even went up against someone while they had the spear of destiny, this almost caused Armageddon. While the Spectres argument with Shazam in DOV, he told him all of his years compared to his is hardly more an the life span of a mayfly. Joined with The Word (The Presences psychical manifestation in reality) he has become The Wrath of God.
