You guys are ignoring the obvious. With guys like Superman, Surfer, Thanos, etc. we don't live in a comic book world. If you had their powers, you'd be accidentally killing people and destroying sh*t left and right.

That's why I picked GL. Sweet for the small stuff as well as the big stuff. But I'd pick a cool street-leveler *coughspidermancough* before those powerhouses any day.

Your absolutely correct about not living in a comic world. Especially guys like Silver Surfer, and Thanos who live in space or on different planets. There going to be pretty lonely. I think i would go with Jhonny Storm simply b/c he is always having a good time especially with the ladies, plus his powers arent to shabby either.

✅ Thats why I pick the Darkness, no moral constraint, based on my own skill, not likely to destroy everything I touch, no willpower or power limitation like that of a GL ring, and I only go out at night anyway. His powers dont need complete pitch black like some think, the shadow of a tree or a dark room might be enough to tap into the power.
I'd probably have to go with someone like Longshot, even with the character's tough life
Basically as Digi was saying above, in the real world, having the ability to fire lazers out of your eyes of bench press a steam boat is going to get you into lots of trouble.
but, you know, being able to make those lottery numbers come up or getting any of the girls you want, thats a good life without said problems.
Not to mention, how many people would REALLY be super-hero crime fighters. Most heroes are that way because of major traumatic issues in their past that give them the "bad stuff happened to me so i wont let it happen to anyone else" comples. Without that type of context, all I see is a whole bunch of loose cannons that can do REAL damage by accident.

And if he wants to cut loose and Earth is too delicate? Go to Asgard and start fights with Frost Giants, Fire Demons, Dark Elves - he can take his pick.
Silver Surfer, for many of the reasons people pick Thanos - without the childhood doubt, secret lack of confidence and obsession with Lady Death. The man needs to date more.
