what others may be perceiving as give and take, point counter point, feels like tooth and nail, hammer and tongs to me. I don't see myself as a shrinking violet, I have a heritage that allows for strong feelings--I am as dedicated to my opinions as the next human--just believe you can love what you love, without the putdown of other things. ex. I'm a veggie head mostly not vegan--I don't 'hate meat', just don't eat it. also, cleverness has a way of getting stifled when one's eyes are all squinty.
I agree with you Tex, I tried to have some 'lively discussion/rousing debate' but just felt frustrated, its impossible to enjoy coming on these forums (at least for me) if its all arguments, you know? A lot of opposite, strong feelings doesn't lead to the warm and fuzzy environment we've come to know here on KMC...*sigh*...hopefully it will sizzle out soon, its not very fun anymore.

Eek! When I was exchanging my dvd today at Best Buy some guy tried to steal stuff. It was crazy. People were yelling and running.. They caught him though. I was scared at one point when someone yelled "Get down!" My first thoughts were "Gun! Ohama Mall! Third floor! Don't shoot me!" But yeah it was just a guy yelling at the thief. But it scared me for a second haha Everybody clapped after the employees got the guy. It was exciting.
Me, I've been vegging since 1974--took a yoga class with this absolutely beautiful young man who trained in India--said if I gave it up for six weeks taking classes I'd get more out of it--call me teacher's pet! Then I met my first long term, Fred and he was also veggie (Budda boy) and after 10 years with him and teaching all my friends I don't eat meat then well, it was just a habit.
Your whole family? Like your mom and dad don't flip completely out--my first Thanksgiving with my family you would have imagined someone died--Still, my younger brother had a quadruple bypass at 49, one vein with 100% blockage, and my veins are fine...so it is a blessing. And I've never missed a meal that I didn't want to.
I way over my grumpasaurus. Don't think that yuck-a-rama has been the intent of the other posters--just getting out their opinions with what grace they have. I am too comfortable evidently, gotta get nudged to grow.

Wow, that is fantastic Tex! *applause* Ooh, India - one of the places I'm utterly facinated with, the culture, the cinema, food, music...everything! *sigh* Have you ever seen a bollywood flick? Aamir Khan is an incredible Indian actor, he's the Johnny Depp of India 😉 I actually got inspiration for some scenes for my fic A Pirate's Heart from one of his movies, lol.
Yup, my mom, dad and I have been veggie for years. My brother (who is quite a bit older and doesn't live at home) eats meat, we don't anymore. We're lacto-ovo veggies though, and eat some seafood 😉 I tried to be a vegetarian a few times when I was younger, but I finally stayed veggie once my parents turned (about eight years ago). For a while I ate meat occasionally (if I was really sick, I might've had a steak or something, but it was a really rare exception for me to eat meat.) but haven't eaten any at all for at least two-three years. I love being veggie 😄 Lol, yeah Thanksgiving is still a little awkward, but my brother and his wife have their turkey at his wife's mother's house, and have a nice yummy veggie meal here with us. We normally make some sort of seafood dish to compensate 😛

Oh, and that (the seafood substitution) is definitely a perk. Never met a crab (does that make me a cannibel?) oyster, or shrimp that weren't sweet to consume...I can shell crab toot suite and have taught my nieces from three on how to work the program--it is good. I eat near cow (butter, ice cream) and near chicken (eggs), 'bout it. At bbqs I make a really killer potato salad sandwich. lol

That's why you don't see me around anymore. Ever since that other forum was here and we all get in a big fight because they were Willo and we were Sparra. To me,since then,it's been arguments.
