just to let you know, harry potter is about witchcraft and wizardry just like say... cat on a hot tin roof is about the south. it's THERE, it's the background, but at no point do the movies go : THIS IS WITCHCRAFT. FEAR US FOR WE ARE AMBASSADORS OF THE DEVIL. just like cat on a hot tin roof isn't like : WE ARE THE SOUTH. LOOK AT OUR BLACK SERVANTS WHO ARE SO HAPPY ALL THE TIME. WE ARE A GIANT STEREOTYPE.
it's just the setting - the movies themselves are about a boy named harry potter who's trying to find himself through seven years of school. it would work without the witchcraft, as a story, but the setting of a wizardry school just brings up so many different situations to be creative about. so jk rowling actually took the harder way and decided to be extremely creative and imaginative and make up a WHOLE DIFFERENT WORLD instead of sending harry to another country for secondary school, or something like that.
ah well. i understand the belief, but personally, i have never felt an itch to suddenly become a satanist. in fact, i know people who are satanist or wiccan and they were that way before they read the books - they say that harry potter is soooo far off from what they worship, it's hilarious to them when those kinds of comparisons are drawn.
but, of course, you're entitled to your opinion. 🙂
