^Marvel Graphic Novel #16: The Aladdin Effect: Chance. By mere chance I came upon this oldie and I cannot be more grateful for it. I had NEVER heard of this Graphic Novel. I've heard about the New Mutants one, about the clasic "God Loves man Kills" (which I recommend both), heack I've heard about the Avengers: The Vault one, but not about this one. And with this title, who can complain? The Aladdin Effect. Who on bloody Earth would know that this is a story about four of Marvel's greatest heroines, finding themselves in a town on the verge of destruction, and a power that could very well wipe the Earth. You see AIM (Advanced Idea Mechanics for the unitiated) "took over" a town in the middle of USA without really taking it over. They created an impenetrable forcefield around the town, trapping them inside for two months, forcing the good people of the town to turn against each other, to almost destoy their civilization. A young eight year old girl wishes for her favorite heroines to save them, to help the people of this town, Venture Ridge. The very next day she finds Storm walking around the town, who was clearly amnesiac. With a little help from this girl, Ororo manages to remember who she is and immediately attempts to help against the force-field, to no avail despite her incredible might. She later bumps into She-Hulk, Wasp and Tigra, who also had amnesia and took a while to regain their memories (the way Wasp does is almost as impressive as Ororo's). Anway, I won't give up much of the plot, but you can guess how it goes from here. It is a great story, about great heroines and guess what, Ororo has far more "face time" than the others, which is the main reason to go and find it. I recommend all Storm fans to buy this Graphic Novel, you will notbe dissapointed. Here are some pages from it
