Pluto no longer a planet

And then there were 8...

The Solar System now has 8 planets, not 9, not anymore. Pluto was demoted.

**** them...I keep my Pluto as a Planet.

Also this part:

"Pluto is automatically disqualified because its oblong orbit overlaps with Neptune's."

I am not a Physicist..but wouldn't that disqualify Neptune as well 🤨

I don't think so (I think its orbit is fairly "normal"😉...but also Neptune certainly has the size.

Walt Disney gets to keep the name for their dog! W00t!

its selective discrimination. just the white man trying to keep pluto down.

I think it's not about the shape of th orbit though, but the "...and has cleared the neighborhood around its orbit", which Neptune didn't do either then...

But then, neither did the other gas giants...just lookit all dem moons 'n' rings.

I think they have to clear their orbits around the sun, for example by creating orbits around themselves.

Didn't Neptune do that?

Thank goodness Pluto's gone.

And Ceres is back as a minor planet!

Pluto no longer a planet

So much for the nine planets in our solar system

Look before you leap http://www.killermovies.com/forums/f11/t418503.html.

Maybe I'm looking at thread titles and not funny plays on words, yeesh

true, the other title is really vague

Well, Pluto always was a poor excuse for a planet.

Merged the threads, leaving a clearer title.

Though possibly misleading- I am sure the debate will go on.

THEY BLEW UP PLUTO??????!!!!! YOU MANIACS!!!!! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!!!!!!!!!

No, since Pluto still crosses it's orbit. And vice versa.

But Pluto is the eccentric one.

Ah, I gotcha. Neptune (being bigger) should've cleared Pluto out of its neighborhood.
Maybe they meant clearing your orbit of other things in your orbit, not something which merely crosses it.
But then, neither am I an astronomer.

Note to self: be less creative with thread titles...and continue to hold on to your day job.
