In anycase, I lucked out. My ball eats whenever food is offered, live or dead.

As far as I've heard most balls are very finicky eaters, though.

Some are. Sometimes I'd have to kill the gerbil by freezing it, and then bonking the dead gerbil on the snakes nose.
