My problem right now is that he is trying to show me that he isn't an ignorant 15 year old by arguing with me. It isn't proving much in his favor.

Ironically, he is essentially trying to tell me not to judge a book by it's cover(that a 15 year old can't be smarter than a 20 year old) immediately after doing just that(labeling someone goth because they wear dark eyeliner).
