pun on 'do'? sure hope not.
Warning, long-ass post ahead.
No. That would be a horrible (as in, unfunny) and very contrived pun, if it were.
I put quotes around words to imply much more meaning than just the word, to show irony, the opposite meaning, to distance myself from a meaning of a word, or to distance myself from the meaning of the word in the context of the sentence/discussion. It's just something I do and could probably be called as being part of my "posting" style.
What it actually means: "do" is a single word for many different things that could occur. Do as in:...
1. Raise a new born.
2. Have a child of your own and raise it.
3. Get married/start a long-term relationship and have children.
4. Adopt a newborn and raise it.
But just typing "do" and putting quotes around it means all of those things, for me. It was much faster to type that than to type out all of those things. I don't like to explain everything I mean because I can get long winded, or it detracts from the immediate conversation, like I did in this post.
Also, you thought it was something perverted. Reading back, a direct reading of what I posted would make that very very sick and is a bit disturbing that you thought of something like that. However, there is NO way you can offend me with any sort of low-brow jokes, so have at it. 😄

hahahahahahahahahahahaha
i wasn't making fun of you. i knew exactly what you meant, what i was playing off of was the convention of quotation marks in the literary world as being used in relation to puns, and the fact that yours could so easily go the wrong way in the minds of the horrifying.
but you thought i was capable of being that perverted, so you made the same error in judgement you assumed i did 🙂
