The direct object would actually be what is liked in "me gusta". "I like what?" is the way to figure out the DO.
In this case, it would be "Me gusta foto de LincolnDark" with foto being the DO. Read below to see why we have to add in extra junk to find the hidden DO.

It would actually be "I like" or "me like". The sentence works on its own...or stand alone because there is a linguistic ellipsis for "I like [insert object, here]". English is definitely not the only language to use ellipses (not the three dots).
