Also feel free to private message me if you have any questions or just want a chat, I found sharing my feelings really helped me to adjust to the idea of becoming a mother.

Thank you so much! I might have to take you up on that offer sometime. I'm very new to this all.

Thank you so much. I've already taken so many steps to keep my little nugget healthy. I'll be going to the doctors this week or next week to have my first appointment and find out everything.

I'll be sure to keep you updated.

Be careful with eating fish, due to small concentrations of pollution. Alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs should also be avoided.

That said it's also important that you eat healthy food, and don't simply avoid bad food.

The occasional beer during pregnancy is actually encouraged by many doctors. Just don't overdo it. One a week or something like that won't do any harm and may actually help.

Alcohol is one of those factors which are usually blown out of proportion, if you go back a hundred years or so mothers would still have their glass of wine to their dinners, and their children came out perfectly healthy.

It's not even the alcohol that's dangerous, but rather the waste products the body produces—acetaldehyde and acetic acid which causes hangovers—which isn't dangerous to have small concentrations of, but if you keep drinking those concentrations increase exponentially.

Either way, discipline isn't a factor in our culture. You either can't have a drop, or your binge yourself unconscious. And it's better to be safe than sorry.

In a statistical comparison? No, they did not come out perfectly healthy compared to today.

There were more factors than alcohol back in the day that would affect child birth, disease being the most predominant.

The point I was trying to make is that you can drink every day and still birth a perfectly healthy baby. Either way, this is a question she should take up with her physician.

I know what you meant. I was just being a pedant. 313

Haven't been here in ages. I've one some growing up in the last two years. I have a little boy myself now. I'll probably post pictures later. If I remember that is.

You had better. uhuh

But, yes, this place is slowing down mad crazy, these days.

I usually eat a lot of protein. Meat, eggs and cheese. I don't drink so I don't have to worry about that, and whenever someone is smoking I just keep my distance. I'm on my feet a lot at work so I'm able to get some exercise, and by half of the day I'm tired anyways, so sleep is fine. I'm trying to catch up on sleep, because once he/she arrives, I'll have much less of that.

My kid is almost 19 months and he still doesn't let us sleep that much. Seems every other night he'll wake up crying at 1am. He calms down if he sleeps in our bed, but we're trying not to let that become a habit.

Belated congratulations 🙂

This was this past summer. <.< I couldn't find one with me and him in it recently that I rather liked. He's considerably bigger.

This is only a month old, but it's my favorite picture of my son.

You look older in this picture than previous ones. Maybe because you are.

My Mom did a lot of that, and it took me and my brother YEARS to learn that Mommy and Daddy's bed, is not ours.

He's precious! 🙂 Awee.

I quit smoking and didn't drink a drop of alcohol during my pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding. Personal choice. I didn't know enough about how drinking affects a developing fetus, or even if it affects the baby at all, so it seemed the most sensible option just to avoid alcohol altogether 🙂 I figure I wasn't encouraged to drink alcohol "for health reasons" whilst growing up so it's not something my body needs so why would it be ok to have a glass of wine here and there whilst pregnant? Why do some doctors recommend it? I don't get that.

I avoid both alcohol and cigarettes, and I stay far away from drugs. I don't want my child around it. All of the following had caused a lot of heartache and complications for my family, so I don't want my little peanut having to deal with it.
I don't have anything against alcohol or cigarettes, I just want to keep my child protected.

Thought you might appreciate this horribly awkward picture of me. My dog is cute. Even from behind. (:

Also, I'm alive. Heeeey.
