Good luck on that...plane tickets are really pricy right now (it was nearly $1000 when I went this summer), and even more so when people are travelling a lot, and Christmas is definitely a peak travel time.

Can't you hold if off then? Maybe go a couple of months later? I'm assuming it's some sort of vacation, so is there much rush?... As Lana said, it's peak travel time.
You may also want to be a little bit more specific with your opening post too... England is a pretty large country, whereabouts in it are you thinking of staying.
