there is no connection. Advent children is a movie sequel to the old game

and nobody noticed the gap between FF6 and FF7 because...?

Well....they both had "Final Fantasy" in the name.

The Spirits Within was also titled Final Fantasy, and there was a major fantasy/sci-fi gap there as well

I heard it was because of that and they were experimenting with CG to e able to mke good movies^^

The connection between Spirits Within and Advent Children is the same as that of FFVIII and FFX.

IE, there is none beyond the name and a handful of things that are present in everything that's FF.

Why'd they make SW when it's not related to any game? I dunno, why'd they make FF Unlimited (the anime) when that's not related to any game, either? Because that's how FF is. All the different FF things (FFVII, AC, and DoC, and FFX and FFX-2 being the sole exceptions) are not supposed to be connected in any way whatsoever.
