Speed Of Light
I have always wondered this and wanted to know if you quantum mechanics geeks out there can answer this for me.
If the speed of light is supposed to be a constant but gravity can effect light and bend it will this not change its speed? I have also heard that shinning light through a type of man-made crystal (can’t remember the type) was said to slow down the speed of light by like 1/3 rd of something.

I'm not a quantum mechanic geek, but I think it's saying that the speed of light (in a vacuum, without any forces on it) is the fastest possible speed.
The speed of light is constant. Gravity can bend it, but it does not change speed.
There are however, hypotheses that the speed of light may be relative or fluctuate. João Magueijo is one such proponent of Variable Speed of Light (VSL) theory, which proposes that the speed of light was faster in the early universe.
