Well i figured we'd lose to the Suns, they just have too much firepower for a team that doesnt show any interest in playing defense. Im proud of the effort some of the guys showed tonight (Lamar, Turiaf, Kobe and Farmar), but also disappointed in the way some of the guys that needed to have big games played (yes Kwame, you).
I dont usually moan about the refs but this series has been hard to watch for some of the calls made. I think even with a fair game being called the Suns would beat us, but it seemed horribly one sided especially tonight.
Phil coached really bad this series to, i know he has the nine rings but he didnt counter any changes the Suns made and his substitutions were awful. I dont know how many minutes Turiaf played but it wasnt enough, no way should Cook be in the game when you are trying to pound the ball inside.
To my fellow Laker fans on this board, try and enjoy the rest of the playoffs (at least we know Shaq wont get another ring). This team will hopefully get rid of all the dead weight in the offseason and find some pieces that can 1) hit open shots and 2) play some f*ckin defense. I dont want to see Smush, Cook or Sasha back next year. We must make finding a vet PG how plays defense a priority and find some wing players who can help Kobe on defense and make an open shot.

That's funny, those are the top two people on our "to get" list. Both of them are looking to be moved so it is a possibility with the right players and the right draft picks that we will get at least one of them. And K-mart should not even be in our top 10.
Anyways I guess I will root for the Rockets now, playoffs wont be exciting now but I would like to see Tmac win it all.
Yea, it's as about as funny as your prediction that the Lakers would make it to the Finals. Minnesota already said there not dealing KG, and if they were, the Lakers don't have the "right players" a.k.a talent to get him. It's possible Kidd could become a Laker, but it's just as possible Kidd could be a Denver Nugget as well so.....good luck with all that.
And I would settle for Tmac just making it to the 2nd round.

Minnesota would be stupid not to deal KG, and he could possibly ask for a trade. I think this next season is his last year, they KNOW he isn't going to sign back with them, why not trade him to get some draft picks and/or good players? Instead of having a superstar for one more year, not making the playoffs, and watching him leave without anything in return.
Well, c'mon, you can't say something like that, and expect it to NOT get thrown back in your face.
KG said it's all up to Minnesota if he stays or not, obviously they have to make some huge changes, and have one hell of an offseason to put the right players around to him make the T-Wolves contenders, but he said if he sees there on the right track he'll stay, if not, he's gone. Only time will tell.
Lakers need a change in the roster, and everyone knows it. KG is impossible to get unless he demands a trade to LA, which isnt goin to happen. Most realistic all stars we can get are Gasol from the Grizzlies and JO of the Pacers. I'd love to have JO, but there might be a chance we could trade for Gasol without using Odom. It would most likely take Bynum, Kwame, and some picks to work it out. Kobe/Gasol/Odom is greater than just Kobe/JO. We still need to tweak the roster if we get our legit second option next to Kobe. Point guard position needs help and so does the bench. If we get our second option in the form of a low post presence, I'd love to use our MLE on Blake.
KG is NOT impossible to get. The Wolves would be smart to move him, better yet he would be smart to demand a trade. He knows he isn't going to sign back with them and so do they. Trading for a desperate teams young stars seems like it is imminent. There is no possible way they could put a team together within one off season to suit his needs. Especially with them being a non playoff team. If it is in LA or somewhere else, he is getting traded. But I get the feeling that for us to get him we are going to have to give up Bynum. But if Minnesota was to give KG an extension then traded him to then I bet we would be willing to part ways with him.

Our best chance at getting KG is for him to opt out of his contract when he can and sign with us. In terms of trading, he has to demand LA as a primary destination.
LA is pretty much where he wants to go. He wants another superstar and he has gone on record saying that. Chicago does NOT have another superstar and no one near the level of a Kobe Bryant. At this point Minnesota respects KG enough to ask him where he wants to be traded too. That is why we have more than a chance at getting him. As long as he wants to come here then there is a shot. Minnesota will be smart to trade him and we have enough young talent to send their way. Where they would be set for the future but the only problem is, would we be willing to give up our future stars for someone who is going to be good for about 4 more years? I say YES because Kobe is in his prime right now, you don't want to waist those years away building up a team that he aint gonna be on. But KG is definitely not impossible to get if you look at the circumstances.

I agree with everything you said bro, as much as i'd love to get KG here you would have to gut the team to match the salaries. Then what? You've got Kobe and KG with the third best player being Vlad or Walton and a terrible bench. As great as a KG and Kobe combo would be they would have to play 48mins a game to keep us competitive.
Pretty much the same problem with JO, great low post presence but we dont have the shooters to take advantage of him being doubled.
Gasol is a nice talent but i dont think he will make us that much better, he doesnt have much of a presence down low and if we are going to be asking him to D up against the likes of Duncan, Yao and the other great western conference centers/PF we will struggle more than we are now.
I know Kwame wont fetch much on the market but he is an expiring contract next year and might provide another team with a big body for a season. I'd like to see us go after Mo Williams with the MLE although he might get more than that after a solid season, Pietrus would also be worth looking at for some much needed perimeter defensive help for Kobe.
It should be an interesting off season anyway, Kobe has thrown down the gauntlet for the front office so lets see if they are serious about building a team around him or not.
