Yea, mine too, we've all graduated but they went back for a semester.

It hit me today, I was rather sad, but I kinda got over it, shed a few tears and moved on haha

When you’re in school stay away from the credit cards that you’ll be getting.

They’ll be tempting to use when times get tight but you’ll be miles ahead of those around you if you exercise the discipline to live completely from cash of from what’s in your checking account.

It’s sad to see how many students mortgage their future by getting deep in debt while they’re in school.

If you spend smartly, and live thriftily, than the credit cards can be your friends in times of need. It's all a matter of budgeting and knowing what's a necessity and what's frivolity.

I'm getting a debit card. So all the emergency benifits, but with none of the debt and bad credit and that kinda shit.

True, but it’s so easy to end up sliding into debt when you’re focused on other things like your studies. This is particularly true for those that are out on their own for the first time and have no experience managing their money.

I've both, although my credit card is a student's line of credit so the interest is wonderfully low. I'm only to use it in times of emergency when I need a whole lot of money 😛

ahh...
Well that works, I guess. I just like my debit card anyway.

Some banks will associate a small "overdraft protection" line of credit with your debit card. Usually the interest rate is high, but if you pay it off right away it’s not a problem. It’s time to start wisely building your credit; but be cautious. After you graduate, or perhaps even before, you’ll be able to buy your own home.

I built enough credit to buy a rental property at 22. But I went to college at night so it gave me the ability to work during the day. That’s not possible for most day students to pull off.

It's true for anyone who has no experience managing their money, regardless of whether they're first time university students or 40 year old house owners.
Sliding into debt is very easy to do nowadays, granted it's a lot easier for students with the cost of education going up so drastically.

I think it’s a product of some, perhaps even many people in today’s society being extremely image-conscious. It’s become so important to own a new car or have a great sound system and all the other trappings of "success" that people have let their overall financial well-being suffer. It’s sad really.

Yea.. But I don't think thats a "now" thing, that aspect of pride has always existed.
The whole "roaring 20's" was build on that aspect.

I find that things like a new car and great sound system are fleeting in an image conscious way. Within a year the car will be forgotten when the new line's released, and good music is good music, even without all the extras.

Although to be honest I spend a great deal of money on clothes and shoes, money I have mind you, only because I feel for true quality you have to pay extra.

And the Great Depression was hangover that resulted from a decade of living in excess. Still, the twenties, I think, was a more a result of the excesses of the richest in the world. The financial peril of today’s middle class is, rather, a result of their own excesses.

Well people were simply living above their means, and yea..

Why?

Because every career that I've chosen that even remotely interests me takes between 8 and 12 years of college and I'm not up for that.

i just finished my first day of classes w00t

I use Debit as well.

I hate college though. I share an apartment with 3 other people. Oh my god it's Hell. I hate people and being around them. I wanted the apartments where you had your own room to yourself and then you had another roommate who had their own room Maybe next year. I'll be sure to enter the lottery much sooner this year. I was a freshmen last year and wasn't aware of when the lottery started so I entered the day before it expired and was lucky to get a dorm.

But anyway I hate college and if I ever quit you can be sure the reason will be b/c of all these stupid people.

is it comprehensible.....
