I bring a new vid, not strictly Jack, but lots of him anyway 😄
"Hot Stuff" ~ The Men of POTC
MizLTTigers, I never knew imagined guessed that hershey kisses brown eyes could stop whatever it is I'm thinking or doing--yet here I sit trying to remember to breathe. There have been a couple of sites I found, and go there, just staring at the ones where he is staring straight into the camera, or the candid ones where he's laughing or smiling whatever. I've tried to make myself overindulge so that I can be done with it, it's not working. I keep looking for some flaw, something that will turn my attention away, not happening. I stared and stared the other day at side by side of orlando bloom and JD. Orlando's upper lip is a bit on the restrained side. I guess the only thing I'm unhappy about is my own fear that he's offing himself with his damn omnipresent cigs, although he may not be genetically inclined to that. My fear, that's all.
And--the 64thousand $ question is--how do men make themselves sound so undeniably SEXY--when Mr. Depp says "and my hat. Commodore!", he sounds like a young boy whose voice is breaking. Next bit, he's saying "It is Elisabeth, innit?" and "easy on the goods, darlin'" and I'm into mass puddling wherever I happen to be (clean up on big rocking chair). Go figure--then there's his "normal" voice "capt Barbossa and his crew of miscreants". Got my engines purring along yep you did...And I'm with PiDiva--I'm going to be a pirate kindred until I turn 103, after that I'll think it over. I'm seeing too many things that give me pleasure. Like I just heard in the commentary part of PotC, that take all you can give nothing back was the docking cry for the Lady Washington crew. You land a line, you hang the hell on. Made perfect sense to me, specially after seeing them go through the locks of the Panama canal.
i know what you mean...some of my favorite sexy Jack Sparrow lines...that turn my innards to pudding are....
the very first time we ever hear Jack Sparrow speak....I've played it over and over a thousand times....when i heard him speak for the first time I was lost....I was like "that's his voice" man oh man....a sexy body, a sexy face, a sexy persona, a sexy voice....
"Let's make it three shillings, and forget the name"........
"I know one, the Black Pearl"........
indescribably delicious--I lost it on that wolfish smile to Norrington as she is buckling the scabbard on him--"easy on the goods darlin'"--knowing that he pressed against her shoulder to knee and delightful parts in between, and he's dreadful, this strange pirate and sweet maiden and she's bout so mad she could just pop. She'd have sucker punched him to New Jerusalem if she could've. Man, then the goods line, underlining his manly man-ness Gives a whole new meaning to weak in the knees, that most excellent shiver crawling up my spine to my hairline. When you wrote "I know of one..."I heard him and saw that fine little head tilt. I loved the sweetness of him when he said to Will, "move", then "please move", then "this shot is not for you". and when he's schooling Will, teaching the boy hard lessons but gently "there's what a man can do (ME ME ME, oh, sorry) and what a man can't do". That sweet sweet mouth. In that very face. Kinda makes you think he's good at what he does, eh?
Okay one more blast from the past--when Elisabeth comes up behind him and leans against him saying "you know Will taught me how to use a sword"and he looks away then back over his shoulder at her--you can see he's thinking about having fought Will, and ummm, wouldn't it be fun to do that with Elisabeth, and here's where it is totally Jack, he's already planning on how he can get her to forfeit clothes, kisses, whatever, then it's like too much work, "Persuade me". I vote for me for most likely to lose it the easiest auditory puddle bunny.
oh oh oh, MizTigers, lift my spirits, buoy my heart, you done brought the finest pirate song home..."how about three shillings and we forget the name?" Shiver me timbers, cakes, how could we ever ever forget the name?
okay...how about.....
"I've heard of one, nigh uncatchable, the Black Pearl".....
"Ah, then I would hate to put a black mark on your record".......
"You need to find yourself a girl, mate"......
"Oh, so it is that you've found a girl".......
"If there are no survivors, then where do all the stories come from, eh?".......
"Tell me, young William, to what lengths are you willing to go to save this girl?" (I'd die for her)
"Oh good, no worries, then"......
"Son, I'm Captain Jack Sparrow, Savvy?"
Tex, Tigers, I know exactly what you mean! Something about his voice, its like a layer of warm silk that just flows around you, warming you like a sip of gourmet hot chocolate - you just shiver and melt into his timbre. *sigh* There are so many metaphors for his voice: laying in a meadow on a warm spring day, the daffodils lightly caressing your form upon the ground, the light, warm wind coating you, letting your spirit soar. Or diving into a hot spring, feeling the deepness and minerals of the earth and the heat of the water warming your core. *shiver* Now I want to go watch POTC.
I must say one of my favorite quotes is "All evidence to the contrary" - in his own way, he is asking for Elizabeth to prove him wrong, to show him how he can be a good man. That sexy, snarky little smirk at Lizzie just says a thousand words.
A close follow up would be "We're not free yet, love." the emotion he packs into that short sentence is absolutely amazing - the longing, the need, the sadness - it makes my heart wrench to even think of how he must have felt saying goodbye to his ship, his Pearl, for the last time - saying goodbye to his freedom in some ways.
Yet my all-time favorite is that one simple word..."Pirate". I can't tell you how many times I've listened to that part of the movie, over and over again, and each time I get chills down my spine. How can a man's voice be such a powerful tool? So mysterious, rumbling yet smooth as the finest melted chocolate, warming so many a female heart?
💃 Tigers a tea--ease! Tigers a tea----ease💃
so much the trickster you are today!! Has anyone every told you how beautiful your spirit is when you are being your kittenish self?
"You need to find yourself a girl, mate"......
"Oh, so it is that you've found a girl".......😆
Funny funny scene, I am still laughing--Jack's so proud of himself when he makes the next connection...."Oh, so it is..." He is pleased as punch to have struck so close to center on his second guess.
Boys and men show their love in such very different ways than we.
I know that Will loves Jack and vice versa--Jack certainly relishes his 'job' as teacher to Will. Competitiveness is something I came to grips with late in life.
It's funny when the shoe is on the other foot and Jack is corrected, schooled by Teague (move, boy ). The very idea of Jack giving way without comment, giving way and hoping to escape the attention of the old man...telling. We all have our masters, I suppose, those we will never naysay, upon pain of ...who knows.
Ah, Tigers, hugs to you today, you helped free an innocent (well relatively) chile--
savvysparrowlove....I agree...those are three of my favorite quotes from Jack in DMC......the other ones I mentioned are from POTC/COTBP of course.....
but yes, there is nothing sexier and heart rendering when Jack says "We're not free yet, love".....he is so trusting of her....he came back to save her and the others...he proved he was a good man...the chance to do the right thing came and he did the right thing.....he did something really courageous by coming back.......when she walks closer to him and says "you came back...i always knew you were a good man"....the look he is giving her just before she kissed him is to die for....how can you look into those warm chocolate eyes - hersey's kisses...and not surrender....
a video about Johnny to die for.....
"I'm in the market, as it were........but you have heard of me.......though it seems enough to condemn him....Finally....I knew you'd warm up to me.....Commodore Norrington, My affects, please, and my hat, Commordore! Elizabeth, it is Elizabeth isn't it...Miss Swann if you would be so kind, come, come we don't have all day, dear...
easy on the goods darling, ........sticks and stones, luv, I saved your life, you saved mine, we're square.....Gentlemen, milady, may you always remember this as the day that you almost captured Captain Jack Sparrow!

Miz Savvy, when did you step up from spirited baby girl to going on 35?
You talking some fine stuff now.
You named it right, Hot Springs --entering that water, soothes, mellows, and envigorates all in one, leaves no part untouched. Oh, my, powerful stuff what you writ.
"Persuade me"--That man is proud of how he knows he affects women--he likes to play, donchaknow? Pudding (ta Tigers, it's a beaut of a word in this discussion--disclaimer don't own it just enjoy hearing it used) Puddle Meltdown .
"we're not free yet luv"--boy, you really know how to bring me to tears. His heart is breaking innit? And mine with it, every time.
All time favorite--no doubt about it. Goes right through flesh, bone, heart, soul, past, present, and future. "Pirate "--tool is right, he was firing the kiln that day, that word burns so bright.
Aw, Tex, you're making me blush 😛 I do have my romanticized, philosophical moments 😄 My parents and I used to do an exercise with music, "seeing" what was there, feeling the colors woven into the very notes - thats where I came up with the metaphors. I love to listen to voices or classical music and imagine what the music would look like, you know what I mean? For some reason, I associate his voice with the Dove Chocolate commercials - where the girl puts the warm, milk chocolate into her mouth, closer her eyes, and just becomes enfolded in that brown silk spreading over the background. His voice can just strike you to your very center, its very unique and wholy (is that a word, lol?) "him".
I love it how just the sight of him or the whisper of his voice can reduce most of us to little melted puddles of goo. 😛
Obviously, I'm having a "romanticized" day. I've been watching too much "Dark Shadows" - that Barnabas Collins is something amazing, Johnny in that role will be something to behold! (*drools*)
the blacksmith's shop....
"You seem somewhat familiar, have I threatened you before".....
"Ah, then it would be a shame to put a black mark on your record, so if you'll excuse me....do you think this wise boy, crossing blades with a pirate.......(you threatened Miss swann) Only a little .....you know what you're doing, I'll give you that...but how's your footwork.......ta"
"that was a wonderful trick, but you see once again you are between me and my way out, and you have no weapon......"
"who makes all these.....(i do and I practice with them three hours a day) ..you need to find yourself a girl, mate"
"or perhaps the reason you practice three hours a day is because you've already found one but are incapable of wooing said strumpet, you're not a eunich?"
(you cheated).."Pirate" ( i love how he says this, it's as if he is saying, have you forgotten I'm a Pirate, so I cheated that's what Pirates do....)
