YES!
Oh I just read this. On ew.com (entertainment weekly) Johnny Depp is number 21 on the Top 50 Smartest People in Hollywood. 🙂
"21. JOHNNY DEPP
AGE 44
JOB TITLE Actor/producer
SMART BECAUSE He's proven that you can sell tickets without selling out. Depp has carved a niche for himself as Hollywood's wizard of weird and showed the suits that audiences were hungry for his handcrafted oddballs. After piloting the Piratesfranchise to $2.7 billion worldwide, Depp is playing a murderous, singing barber in the bloody operetta Sweeney Todd. (Seriously, who else would do that?)
NEXT Although it's delayed by the writers' strike, he'll produce and star in the international narco-thriller Shantaram, directed by Mira Nair.
POP ROCKS He first moved to L.A. as a musician, not as an actor. His band once opened for Iggy Pop.

New Sweeney Pics, spoilers
I'm so jelous of Helena right now
Okay PiDiva--my deal isn't so much that he can do all these things, that's the wonderfulness of that Gemini mind--my deal is where does he get the 38 hour days? The 8 day weeks? Everything he can do takes an immense amount of time--art is not easy--it isn't supposed to match your couch. He is amazing in that for sure--focused and dedicated.
He really captured her essence didn't he? I love the eyes, they are so clear and bright--The ones I've seen where he's painted himself, he always paints himself hidden by his hair or a scarf, sorta looking out from behind this curtain of his hair. After watching the interview you posted, I'm beginning to think the boy might be shy, a closet exhibitionist. He seems very tiny and vulnerable in most interviews, he doesn't see himself pretty at all, it doesn't seem. Odd isn't it--he turned out well, you're absolutely correct.
I'm sorta torn about the kissy face wedding scene. I know that they are all friends right--he's the godfather of TB's child--so he's basically kissing his "sister (inlaw)". (reaction: Jack after being slimed by the Kracken--big shudder). But yeah, all in all pretty interesting. Maybe I will be able to see some of the flick.
I found this very interesting a rum company is crediting Johnny Depp's portrayal of rum-lovin Captain Jack Sparrow as the reason why they have seen a 31% increase in rum sales!! lol....I Love it!! I know I've gotten a craving for rum ever since the Pirate movies...lol!!

ImpPiDiva, I got drunk for the 1st time ever in my life on rum and Dr. Pepper, late teens. Needless to say, I couldn't stand the smell of it in the same room for way too many years. I sailed, I knew there was rum, couldn't force myself. May 2007, I found Legend and this summer I had a shot (like tequila, just the rum)--just to be wicked. I kept the bottle near my computer--celebrate infrequently now, but I still have gotten past the yuckies--decided if I was going to embrace my inner pirate, then I'd have to learn rum!! Ain't nothing like a hard head.
^^ Ha, the year of POTC - 2004 - my sisters, neices went at a "cabin" trip in the north georgia mountains...we went tubing on the chattachoochee in Helen, GA.....before the draught-
and we were drinking rum and coca-cola and when we would add the rum to the coke we would mimick Jack and say "And now, de rrruummmm!" we would growl and roll the "r"! LOL....then later we went on a trip to Sandestin, Florida and did the same think as we made our Pina Caladas!
Yes, i can hardly see a bottle of rum without thinking of Jack, but who am I kidding, I can hardly do anything 24/7 without thinking of Jack!/Johnny!
But hey don't we rate a white on white like Vienna? 🙁 I'm thinkin' he didn't have to studley dudley for us, on the other hand--yes the scarf is hip, yes the hat yes the Boots--child wears more ritual clothing than I do. Who was he attached to when he got those boots--it's gotta be something like that, doncha think--or maybe favorite relative gave 'em? I've heard or seen no stories at all about them--leads me to believe they are big magic. Oh, has any one seen "the Brave"?
He is, of course, cute as a speckled pup with a red bow on Christmas morning...and there are probably lots of people who walk right by him and never notice.
