People die all the time, Why worry about someone you never knew or met? It makes little to no sense to me. If a person did not make an impact directly into your life it shouldn't matter. But then again this is coming from the me . I am just sitting and waiting for both my father and grandmother to ko so I won't hear form them again.

But I will be like the other kids, R.I.P Steve, you'll be missed. OH yeah when you get to the otherside do stay out of the water.

I actually agree.. not to seem heartless but I really can't seem to be able to conjure up feelings for someone that I never even knew.

Well the difference between this case and the other millions in the world that we dont know, is that this guy felt more familiar to us as we "knew" him off of that box that is in our front rooms each day. This is why there is empathy. Al false economy or not, thats the main deal.
And in this sad day and age, folks probably feel with some accuracy that they know media personalities better than half the folks in their street.
The people arent to be condemned for this.... the way things have gotten is.
And besides he fascinated us which his insights and knowledge.
Rivetted us with the liberties/risks he took too...
And he had real character too, which people actually notice.

And if the only regard to hold strangers in is one of distance (and enough contempt for the deceased to begrudge other people showing respect concern for that person) and indifference, the why are you on a message board...? Unless you actually have met or lived with everyone here, then doesnt that same mandate of thinking prohibit giving a shit about ANYONE you havent met physically/lived with in the same house/ whatever..?

'Cause a message board is FULL of people you've never met and if you have ever felt like you liked anyone here, you fall into contradiction territory: IE: You shouldnt have any feelings about someone youve never met, yet you like or hate a person off a board that you have never met.

Bottom line:

I guess when someone earned the admiration of the public, lives in public, dies in the public eye, dont be too surprised when the public notice and are concerned...
And emotions know very little logic, at the best of times.

Now dont get me wrong.... I've gone about my life as usual since hearing this but you cant blame a bloke for going:
"Bloody shame, that! That guy cracked me up!!
When Im flicking through the channels, I'll miss his show and his take on things... And what a way to go eh...? The poor bugger!"
😮‍💨

(You understand that I wasnt having a dig, there just thought I may have been able to help answer what seemed like reasonable questions...) 🙂

its one thing to feel sorrow for a celebrity who passed away, and another to act like you lost a family member.

Nuuuur--HAHAHAHAHA!

The hilarity of the SCA threat just hit me fully.

"Sir Percy, hold the bastard that I may smite him mightily with Ye Olde Bastard Sword Made of Foam."

"Sorry, my mom wants me home for lunch."

Oh, you just know those guys are built.

I can't believe he's gone. I always picture the man retire and his kids pulling those stunts for their old man. Farewell Croc Hunter..

R.I.P. Steve Irwin.

I just read about this. Its real sad 🙁 He always seemed like a great guy and seemed to love what he did. I feel bad for his wife and kids.

It's shit like this that really makes me believe religion is all a bunch of crap. People like steve go while assholes and killers go on living.

r.i.p steve

It is a shame but...if religion is real...he is getting his reward of eternal life with no pain whereas black people still have to put up with pain and prejuidice...

Actually don't care much, kinda found the sadness over his death outweighed by him not being annoying anymore as well as the hilarity of someone dying that put himself in a dangerous situation by choice.

You do realize that you have the option of not watching his show and therefore not being annoyed by his antics. Also, the chance of a stingray hitting and piercing you through the heart is extremely rare, so it wasn't a particularly dangerous situation.

Me sad........ 🙁

And didn't he pull the sting ray spike out himself ???? WOW.

I liked it when the dude said, "Crikey!"

He'd always say "Now don't go trying this at home".............LOL

Some sources say he did, some say he didn't... But if you were to get stabbed through the heart with a poisonous barb, do you thing you'd have time to pull it out before you went into cardiac arrest? Maybe, he was a tough little guy, but I find it improbable.

Yup. Wouldn't argue with that.
