I heard this morning at school. Someone in my class just said out the blue, "Steve Irwin's dead." At first I thought he was joking, you know what boys are like, joking around, but then a girl said also that she saw it on the news. I then searched the internet & it's true. He died in a freak accident because stingrays don't usually kill. People get hurt from them but usually live.
I can't believe it, I liked him. He was a huge animal lover & saving them & caring for them. He was also funny & a nice person. I watch his shows on Animal Planet all the time! I knew it'd come to this someday...
You see, he nearly died by a crocodile when his hand was bitten by one & dragged into the water. Luckily he landed on top of the crocodile so it wasn't able to attack him. With all the dangerous & life risking things he did, I just knew he'd die this way; by the thing he treasures most, wildlife itself.
I'll miss him loads & feel bad for his two kids, especially Bindi because she understands the most, as for Bob who's only three. Bindi's 8 & knows he's gone.
I want to say though that people who have said, "Yeah good riddance," or "Yeah I'm glad," ect (including people who have posted here), I don't like you. Sorry but that's the way it is! You can't say that when he did many things to help animals. Someday I'd like to help animal properly as a job & show my support. If someone's treating an animal bad, they'll here from me, I promise you that!
I love animals so much & do what I can to help, along with my mum. Some summers we hold a sort of gala where people can have something to eat & have a go on the tomola & raffel. What we make is went off to the RSPCA or somewhere else. We even got a thank you letter for the £40 were raised (about $75 for you American's.) My mum also donated £20 to a farm when we were there.
Miss you loads Crocodile Hunter. 🙁
I knew the very 1st time I saw him, he had a rattlesnake right up to his face...and I said "Hes not going to live long doing that insane kind of thing."
What do mothers tell their kids well they were little? "PLEASE, ((PLEASE)) dont play with FIRE!!! WHY!?? Because you will get BURNED!" 😠
My condolences to his wife and kid(s).
For all of you who have said anything along the lines of 'It was inevitable', or some such ignorant variant, you should know better. Have a little empathy? No one's asking you to create a shrine to the Croc King or grieve as if you've lost a close relative, but at least don't make out like you're glad he's dead. It's almost as if you're saying he got his come-uppance! If you didn't like the guy, doesn't such a petty opinion seem trivial now? You cannot feel pleased that he's dead and proud of yourselves just because you had some premonition that this was gonna happen. That's twisted.
I didn't like his way of presenting, but his shows were interesting and my sister (and her friends) adored him. The amount of times my sister's come out with some snippet of information I've never heard before is amazing! She's only 8 and already she's teaching me things I didn't know, children absorb information if it's fed to them the right way and Steve Irwin definitely had the knack for enrapturing an audience.
It's a shame he's dead. I'm not particularly sad as I don't know him, but I feel for his family.
Don't say he should have known better, the guy was doing what he loved best and providing education at the same time. He was, overall, a good guy.

wow, nice way of putting it Syren 👆 When I was a wee Liz, I used to watch that show too, and I learned SO MUCH!
I've watched a few times, with my sister, but as I said I didn't really appreciate his presenting skills. He was amusing but after a while I got a little irritated 😮 Just my lack of tolerance for over-acting I suppose.
It's still unfortunate that he's dead and I don't see how anyone can react callously, but as usual there are people posting here who just have to let us know how satisfied they are that a good man has got what he, apparently, so deserves 😬
