I think being holy is a sign of greatness. And the Pope did more than just sit around being holy, he led an entire Church, and wrote tons of encyclicals and books.

Yes, the Late Pope was a very good man and all, but I don't know if I could agree with claiming he is the greatest because of that. And I can't help but forget the more questionable aspects of his reign that were, well, forgotten on his passing.
A good man, but not perfect.
