Pretty much.
It's in continuity and another writer may love the idea and expand upon it.
While at first I didn't know how to react to it, after reading some of the T-vo stuff, now I actually don't mind it. His battle with the Eradicator (another advanced T-vo user) was pretty awesome.
People complain that Superman is a boring brick, yet he's given an ability that has cool options/possibilities to it and they still complain.
I'm amazed at how much resistance/hate it's gotten from a lot of the forum members.

People complain about his boringness, probably never read a book of his.
T-vo was(imo) assjuice though. Pureed and aged.
Professor X was in good shape before he went all Martin Luther in a wheelchair.
Does that mean he should get a class 20 master blow equivalent, since he was in good shape before the accident, since its part of his history??
Nope, cuz its crappy and alien to the character.
Or should Hulk be able to project and astrally dominate the astral plane, since he could always see Astral figures??
Nope, cuz thats not his schtick.
T-vo goes against the physical draw and presence of Superman.
To quote somebody ......
Kase "I don't see how dumping Torquasm-Vo is ^limiting^ Superman. It wasn't even a practical ability for Supes. NOBODY wants to see Superman practicing Kryptonian martial arts on a Wednesday night in his boxers, and whoever says he does is a ****in' liar. "
End quote
Superman studying Bruce Lee or his Kryptonian equivalent is laughable. Highly.

What exactly do you think his concept is? Only problem I see is that it might step on WW's toes a little bit since Class 100 MA is kind of her shtick. I'm not saying he should be on her level but a guy who hangs around her and Batman has to pick up a few moves.
He's the brawny man that doesn't dodge or reverse the punch or kick, simply cuz it won't hurt him.
And i didn't say it wasn't realistic.
Just alien to Superman.
Superman dropping into the Horse stance is so wrong in my eyes, that i wanna cry.
Him taking out Parademons with akido is laughable.
Superman is the slobber knocker character. He takes the hit, cuz likely it won't hurt.

The fact that just about anything that is done with Superman strikes such strong emotion is what makes the character so great.
I have no problem with Superman studying his spiritual side, and learning Martial arts both of mind and body.
It keeps the character from getting stale, and it's not like he uses it for an instant win in every book. It's been used in some crazy ways yes..but also in some simple, cool ways.
The character has been around over 60 years and has had FAR more ridiculous powers in his career. T-vo is far from the worst. Written correctly, it could be a highly interesting addition to his development.
well maybe it was the writers way of hinting superman's great hidden power and maybe a relation to Roa... but now it might get scrambled up and forgotten, don't care either way really, but it was nice to see superman actually doing something with his heritage other than stating "I'm kryptonian" .. yea we know that!
