Admiral Akbar

This may not be the correct forum for this question but here goes anyway, i'm in a dispute with my colleague about whether Admiral Akbar dies or not? if he does how and which film, would be great if someone could help,

He doesn't die in the film, that's for sure. EU, I have no idea.

in the NJO i THINK.

He dies of old age in the NJO books. Right before that he came out of retirement and devised new tactics for the GA to repel the Vong invasion.

I'll always remember him for the best line ever recited in the history of the universe though: "It's a trap!"
