So...they are measuring how much waste a household produces so that the household can be charged for the amount of waste produced...there is no infringement of privacy, as implied by D's original post...the little chips cannot say what is in the bin...only how much it weighs...and because bins are filled with various products it is impossible to say whats in it. Simple as that, it seems the government is just concerned about the environment...thats all we can really see here...why keep it secret? Well that obvious...they want to test the system and put it in place before people can reject it as another funds raiser...even though I think most people would support this, pay per bin system...I think it's a great idea...it will reduce waste and encourage recycling thus saving the environment!
