Certain literature might depict aspects of life and history. Such books like Grapes of Wrath or The Jungle do bring out those mirror reflections. However, books like A brave new world and 1984 a more about predicting an uncertain future. Thus, it belongs in the realm of sci-fi. If we were to say that sci-fi projects such mirror life. Then by all means we have to wait 10,000 years for the Kwisatz Haderach to arrive in Arrakis and finally governs the spice trade.
Of course, but '1984' and 'A Brave New World' offer cautionary tales of a possible - albeit exaggerated - future. The judgement that the writers use to make their projections are based in the society they see around them. Take a look at some of these quotes from '1984', and then try to tell me that they are not even slightly pertinent to today's world:
“To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just so long as it is needed.”
“The rocket bombs which fell daily on London were probably fired by the government of Oceania itself, 'just to keep the people frightened'.”
“The key-word here is blackwhite. Like so many Newspeak words, this word has two mutually contradictory meanings. Applied to an opponent, it means the habit of impudently claiming that black is white, in contradiction of the plain facts.”
"And if all others accepted the lie which the party imposed-if all records told the same tale-then the lie passed into history and became the truth."
