Star trek is ****ing huge fan based.

But Still, No need for a forum.

I don't want a bunch of star trek geeks running around saying

"juas ju whpos bettah picard ore kirka!?"

*shutters*

Lana is right. You don't need to instruct me on Trek having a fan base. I am a sci-fi geek, you know.

But there has been no visible demand for it here- and people requesting a forum and there actually being demand for it are two very different things. I remember the hardcore appeal for a Tarantino area, which pretty much went nowhere.

You have two big problems here, other than the fact that there does not seem to have been much popularity for Trek threads in the sci-fi forum (even when the series was still running!)

The first is that Trek is a split franchise, tv and films. Star Wars is absolutely unique as an area in this forum for being a crossover, and that necessitates it being split up with a separate EU area, and even all that is only as a result of its history at this site. Trek is essentially a tv franchise, and it is nowhere near as big, on this forum, on the tv franchises that do have their own sub-areas in the tv forum.

The second is that there is no Trek franchise currently being shown or even under serious development. 'Lost' and 'Smallville' have their own areas based entirely on being hot at the moment. Trek isn't hot- quite the contrary, it has gone cold.

When it starts up again... that will be a better time to look at this.

Until then, the best way for you to prove me wrong is to make a Trek thread in the TV talk area and see if it becomes hugely popular.

Makes perfect sense, unfortunately for the hardcore fans. Waiting until Star Trek starts up again (if it does) seems like a logical step.

Although, there wasn't an obvious desire for a poetry forum but it's successful. Wasn't that on a trial basis to begin with?

There already was a central core group of people active in writing poetry when that forum was created though, which is why it's flourished...relatively speaking, anyway. It's still a very small forum 😛

I'm with Ush on this one, and I also see it as this - if there really was enough interest for a Trek forum, it would have been brought up like this before. As it stands, it hasn't, nor has there really been any real demand for it or anything that shows that there WOULD be a demand for it.

The idea has been put forward before, and the support was lacking then as it still is now.

I agree.there should be one.

Ah.

I figured you were talking in general.

My Apologies.

oh it's like we have espn or something.

I would support a Star Trek forum. You have my vote.

However, keep in mind that it all depends on the consensus of the KMC members. My dream forum is for the Indiana Jones franchise. But like it has been mention many times before. We have to wait for the 4th installment and a general members response from the members before reaching on a decision if the Indy forum will be created.

Resistance is Futile 😈

I, myself, am not what you would call a hardcore Trekkie, even though I own the entire Next Generation series and all of the movies on DVD. I don't own any Vulcan ears or a Starfleet insignia, but I am a knowledgeable fan. I would, however, support a Star Trek Forum.

Star Wars is still better, though.

I'm more of an original classic series and Deep space nine fan. 😉

My dad had the complete original series on DVD and I borrow it from time to time. I never got into Deep Space Nine, Voyager, or Enterprise.

Voyager was so-so. Enterprise never really caught much of my interest. But still a very good series.

Oooh, WD 😱

Use your Dwarf-like wiles and powers of persuasion 😛

*sharpens axe*

Okay, almost there...

*drinks Ale*

This Dwarf is now Hyper Drive!

What is your Phaser set on? 😂

Minimum stun. 😕

I like Star Trek, but it's a bit boring, plus all the nerds will get upset about who was the best captain.

So I would vote no.
