Since when does Maher claim to know everything or be responsible for the Democrats winning Congress? NEVER.
Truth is, he's a smart, VERY opinionated guy who can be pretty funny and at the very least makes you look at things from his side of the left. I happen to agree with a lot of what he says, but that's only until I hear something better. (Happens more theses days)

Actually he does fall to the right on allot of issues as well. He's the best kind of moderate.
I sometimes get very pis sed off by watching Real Time. If you think of it,on Friday, Frank Lutz made some excellent comments. " We know what you stand against, but what do you stand for?" in terms of Democrats. I thought that was a very legitimate and thoughtful question, and Bill Maher immediately shut him out by saying that when the opposing party craps on politics this much, you can only stand against. All the Republican conservative criticism is getting a bit too much, the SAME points are being repeated week after week after week. Whats even more disappointing is the fact that no matter how repetiive the liberal points of arguement get, the audience are so dumb that they'll clap for it anytime. And anytime a right-wing guy will try to say something that is different from all the Bush bashing and actually concentrates on what needs to be done, how the Democrats can win the party, the audience boo's the person. Dont you think its getting a bit too much to handle?
Paula Poundstone added absolutely nothing to the show, it was ridiculous. And I loved how when Maher was saying about the " are you F-ING KIDDING ME PRESIDENT" and Frank Lutz replied by saying thaat the " ARE YOU F-IN KIDDING ME" presidents that the Democrats haven't been able to beat. Why cant we have a proper discussion as to how Democrats need to tackle the conversative policies, how they can win the election this time around, their stance on policies? Instead we get an hour of Bush bashing which is getting so tiresome that I cant stand it.
I am a republican and I love the Bill Maher show, cause I always enjoy a good mixture of politics/humor.
But I think Maher's show has gotten stale cause every week it is the same joke: Bush is a ****in idiot, Religion is the devil, and now we are going to talk for the next 40 minutes on why Bush/Cheney/Tenet lied to us about getting ourselves into war.
Because of this, very few republicans go on anymore, so you a slanted liberal audience with two of the three guests having liberal views and they all just pounce on the lone republican who dares come on. Even Luntz was making a joke about getting lambasted before the first topic was even brought up!
Politically Incorrect was alot better when Maher had 4 panelists, and usually was able to split between 2 Republicans and 2 democrats, and you would get a mixture of good debate and funny anecdotes. It is such a shame cause 'New Rules' is great, and when there is a balance of arguments on the show, which is rare, it is entertaining as hell, and a good comedian like Dana Carvey, who was on a couple of weeks ago, can keep everything light. Now it is just **** Bush, **** Cheney, get us out of Iraq. As a republican, I actually agree with ya Bill, OK now talk about how we should get out of Iraq every week instead of how we screwed up to get there!
