Each one of them will have 1 year of prep, and can use any machines or gadgets at THEIR disposal. (i.e. They cannot borrow any equipment or gadgets from another person. Anything they bring to this fight must be self made)

I have to admit, it was a sneaky move though,
Reed added the blast from his canon to a concentration of energy LT and 6 other Abstracts were creating,
In essence, Reed used their own powers against them, with help from the canon ofcourse.
Reed was the first being to discover the Negative Zone.
Reed was the first being to figure how to travel to the Micro-verse.
Reed built a spacesuit in one day that allowed the Human Torch to travel to ends of the Multi-verse, in search of the UN during the Abraxas arc.

MacGyver's main asset is his practical application of scientific knowledge and inventive use of common items—along with his ever-present Swiss Army knife and duct tape, and the usual coincidence of being locked up in a room full of useful materials. All of MacGyver's exploits on the show were ostensibly vetted to be based on real scientific principles.
